Large Active Matrix Display Applications (LAMDA)

Description

OLED displays are a new generation of displays, which combine the excellent image quality of the traditional CRT displays and the thinness of LCD displays. These qualities combined with the potential to significantly reduce manufacturing costs have excited the display industry and created an urgent commercial demand to develop large (> 12") OLED displays for the electronic consumer market. To meet this demand the standard OLED device structure needs to be modified and new processes and equipment must be designed. In this program, we will develop a manufacturable device structure, qualified processes and equipment specifications so as to enable the future fabrication of large OLED displays. Development of a soft, low damage process for depositing a Transparent Conducting Oxide (TCO) will be a key step. Our aim is demonstrate the feasibility of this novel technology by 2007, that will bring a step-change in the viability of Polymer OLED.
