Injuries are a common issue for wheelchair athletes. These injuries have a major impact as in daily life these athletes are also dependent on their wheelchair. As agreement on the risk factors for picking up an injury is still missing, we want to get a better understanding of this topic. Theretofore, we propose a holistic and data-driven approach with the application of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. In collaboration with sports practice, knowledge institutes and companies, we want to develop the necessary data infrastructure for this approach and submit a follow-up proposal with a clear-definied research question and solid consortium.
