Effects of dietary Black soldier fly larvae inclusion on broiler cecal microbiome

Description

Supply of live larvae to poultry positively affects welfare of the bird, because it stimulates natural foraging behavior. Birds have a natural preference for insects (>50% of their dietary intake), so we expect that insects have beneficial effects other than nutrient source. It is likely that eating of insects support the birds gut health by stimulating beneficial bacteria in the gut. In this project, the effect of different levels of live larvae fed to poultry on the bacteria composition of the birdsintestine will be studied. Besides, a follow-up project will be prepared to study the subject in more detail.
