Building a learning culture for the digital world

Description

Internet affects every field including the educational processes and while enriching the teaching processes, it offers teachers and students unlimited social, cultural and personal opportunities. However, effectiveness of the internet in the teaching process depends on the information literacy skills of the students and their ability to use the internet efficiently. Therefore, students in all fields in secondary and high schools must certainly be trained to have competencies to enter information sources, to obtain accurate knowledge and to gain the ability to compile and to comment. This matter is not only the problem of our country, but also the problem of Europe and of the world.Education, as in every field, is rapidly becoming digital with each passing day. Students, secondary school and high school teachers and even academics complain about students who cannot access correct and necessary information and cannot use the existing possibilities of digital information literacy in their homework and thesis. Most of these students are not aware that they have all the information resources on their mobile phones in their hands. Therefore, most of the students starting or graduating from university, graduate without learning how to use the internet and information literacy. Students who start using smartphones even in primary schools should be taught the digital information literacy lastly in high school. We have to teach learning to students who have digital opportunities by gaining them the talents to use the right resources and the ability to compile and to present information. Before students start university, they must be taught learning in the digital world. Otherwise, it is known that students starting university are not successful enough. Therefore, digital information literacy needs to be taught to students before entering university In order to teach these abilities to all students IN SECONDARY AND HIGH SCHOOLS, compulsory digital information literacy courses that will be designed according to a modern curriculum should be given in the first year of each school. There are three main purposes in this project: 1-This project aims to prepare a course curriculum to be used in all IN SECONDARY AND HIGH SCHOOLS for digital information literacy courses in cooperation with and the experiences of partner countries. The main goal here is to design an innovative, guiding and competitive curriculum corresponding to present day digital information literacy and to design an e-learning course for IN SECONDARY AND HIGH SCHOOL students. 2-The second aim of the project is to improve the digital literacy of teachers with short-term National Education courses. Training courses for teachers will be included in the project outputs. The main purpose of this preparation is to explain the importance of digital information literacy to school administrators and teachers, to complete the missing information of educators and to teach the use of projects and outputs. In particular, school administrators should encourage them to take this course, which will be applied as an elective course in schools within the framework of digital education and course curricula, and to make them work on the importance of this course. The project also aims to provide the knowledge, the experience and the applications of the partners related with digital information literacy and this collaboration will contribute to the determination of the frames of the curriculum for information literacy courses IN SECONDARY AND HIGH SCHOOLS. 3-Another aim of the project is to develop the academic abilities of the students in digital information literacy before starting university. This project foresees that cours of digital Information literacy should be given to students as compulsory education during the pre-university periods in secondary and high schools for the success of students Four international meetings will be held in the project. Dissemination events will be organized, informative and educational meetings will be held for teachers, school administrators and students. Plot applications will be held in at least three schools. In the project, four Intellectual Outputs, including an education web portal, modules, course curriculum, mobile phone application and BDW textbook, which can be used in normal education and distance education, will be obtained. In the years after the project is completed, information literacy in internet use will be included in the program as an elective course in schools affiliated to the Efeler District National Education Directorate. Certified training seminars will be held every year for teachers who want to teach the course.
