Waterasmus - Mobility in Blue

Description

All life is connected and dependent on water and the globe is mainly covered by water. The scarcity of clean water has been a big global problem and is ever increasing due to increasing population and pollution caused by humans. People are highly unequal about the availability of clean water. Our students are those who are the most touched in the future and they are extremely worried about the situation of our planet. This concern is seen in every country of the project and our aim is to increase our students’ knowledge of the problems and moreover, to come up with ideas how they could do something useful for everybody’s future. In Europe, we have functional municipal and industrial water purification systems presently compared to that in the days of industrialization. Still there are many careless and unconscious habits in our living standards that need to be addressed in order to confirm the clean water for us all in the future. We eagerly buy goods that are produced on the other side of the world in poor countries with the expense of the local natural resources and human life. Increased consciousness of sustainable lifestyle has also motivated people to research sustainable technologies based on recycled renewable materials and energy sources. In this project, we are five partner schools from different parts of Europe who will work together towards the common goal to become the water sustainability managers/professionals. At the first phase we evaluate our every day water consumption including the invisible water. The relation to water in partner schools is different according to the place where the school is located. We examine and compare different local water ecosystems including lakes, rivers and seas of the project countries. We share the knowledge of the condition of water areas and water treatment and purification systems within Europe. Pupils shoot a document of human impact on different water areas during the project to be used on all partner schools and published on webpage/vlog. We also wish to make permanent changes in our habits and share the idea of sustainable water consumption in our communities. The study methods and (intercultural) group activities are shared instantly in attending schools and in local communities as well as globally through our project web sites. The project activities are built in a way they may be utilized in teaching even after the project is completed. Moreover, according to our curriculums, our aim is also to co-operate with business life so that our participants could realize the importance of our theme.
