"In the 21st century, with the invasion of smartphones and computers, the use of internet and the spread of information became a public activity, as opposed to its more limited use in the end decades of the 20th century. While this technological jump has allowed access to the masses and has given birth to tremendous achievements for mankind, it also has created a huge gap in relevant education, meaning that people have gained the means to obtain information without having any education on how to filter it and how to distinguish a media source between professional and amateur, provable news or rumor engine or even more spread due to malicious intents. The project tackles the terms ""Internet Misinformation"", ""Fake News"", ""Critical and Analytic Thinking"" and ""Social Media Literacy"", aiming to bring to the surface the negative effects of Internet Misinformation and Fake News, and the benefits of introducing learners to Critical and Analytical Thinking and Social Media Literacy.Precisely, the purpose of the project is an international synergy between 4 European organisations TO TRAIN ADULT WORKERS TO EDUCATE ADULTS IN SOCIAL MEDIA LITERACY AND CRITICAL AND ANALYTICAL THINKING AS MEANS TO COMBAT FAKE NEWS AND SOCIAL MEDIA MISINFORMATION. Having as target groups adult educators, trainers, educators, researchers, experts involved in social media literacy and social media misinformation, and adults as final beneficiaries, we propose the following objectives: 1. To design innovative training contents and methodologies that promote social media literacy,2. To increase the professional development (critical and analytical thinking) of Adult Educators of each partner and of other relevant stakeholders working on training centers and public institutions, who will then transmit them to the adults they work with, 3. To design an Education Resource for Social Media Literacy to guide trainers in their teaching (on-line toolkit). In order to reach the aforementioned goal, this project takes a number of carefully planned steps to introduce Critical and Analytical Thinking and Social Media Literacy to educators working in the field of adults. The following have been planned for the project in terms of IOs and LTTAs:*4 linked IOs:1. A study of the phenomenon which will result in a curriculum structure containing all sectors of knowledge an adult trainer should have on these fields2. Population and testing of the curriculum within Adult Educator groups3. Creation of example lectures on the topic and testing within Adult groups by Adult Educators4. Creation and publication of the project website/material and e-learning content to be used by future Adult Educators.*2 LTTAs involving a small number of adult educators and representatives of larger adult groups (of mixed skills and educational level, including NEET), helping verify the legitimacy of the IOs in reality and also increase the European aspect of the problem this project tackles.1. The First LTTA will be used as a pilot to test the prepared curriculum course on Adult educators and receive feedback. It will include 3 trainers for each organization.2. The Second LTTA will be used as a pilot to test the example lectures on Adults and receive feedback. It will include 5 adults and 1 trainer per organization. The project as well includes 4 Multiplier events to increase targetted dissemination on the intended groups. The desired impact of the AdultMisinfo project is to initially:•increase awareness in the local community on the project’s field•promote through the toolkit (platform/website) and social media presence of the project and involve local media and press•encourage the involvement of policymakers, independent bodies for the address of the aforementioned issues and promote dialogue for exchange opportunities and challenges regarding social media misinformation and fake news in partnerships with adult organizations, training centers and other work sectors involved. In addition, the cooperation between partners from Greece, Cyprus, and Slovakia will lead to the development of qualifications and appropriate training methods for adult educators, the exchange of ideas, good practices, skills, and experiences. Each organization will contribute knowledge in specific topics and will gain new knowledge from each one partner organization. The skills and knowledge acquired by the core groups during the transnational activities will be used in future related projects both on a local and European basis. After the project's completion and through the actions of each partner organization utilizing their international network of associates, it is expected that this project's results will be finally disseminated on a European level. This way, it is expected to reach hundreds of adult stakeholders, and a far greater number of adult educators (trainers), thus indirectly benefiting European adults."
