Upskilling by Creating individualized Learning Pathways

Description

The Pathways project intends to develop a toolkit for adult education and career professionals who work with unemployed low skilled adults (final beneficiaries). The toolkit will serve the purpose of helping these two categories of professionals (direct target group) in recognising basic skills acquired through informal or non-formal learning contexts, as a means to improve the employability of the final beneficiaries. Alongside the recognition of skills, the direct target group will be in the position of helping the final beneficiaries in creating their individualised learning pathway, as a means of upskilling and improving their position in the labour market, but also for self-improvement, in the context of lifelong learning promotion. The project will reach out to over 200 adult education teachers/ trainers, over 450 low-skilled adults in search of employment and at least 1,500 project stakeholders ( career offices; VET providers; labour market representatives; technical schools; civil society organisations; local groups of interest; umbrella organisations; decision makers at local level; professional associations; local stakeholders), through the project activities, the multiplier events, as well as the dissemination and exploitation activities planned to be implemented. To achieve the results foreseen, the partners will carry out a current situation analysis, through which they will identify the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) procedures implemented in each participating country, what the labour market is in need of in terms of basic skills, what adult education provision offers and how career offices help low-skilled adults in finding a job. The conclusions of the report will provide the necessary insight to all consortium members to develop the Pathways methodology. It will be composed of the definition and applicability of RPL, the methodology for applying it, the appropriate tools, as well as motivation and engagement techniques for low-skilled adults on lifelong learning options for upskilling and personal development. A training course will then be developed addressed to adult education and career professionals, aimed at building their capacities to implement the Pathways methodology. In principle, this will be delivered to trainers of trainers through a short term learning activity, with the latter then delivering it to the direct target groups. A four-month pilot phase will see at least 450 low-skilled adults have their basic skills recognised and their individualised learning pathway to upskilling determined. The Pathways eLearning platform will be facilitating the results' development phase, but, most importantly, the pilot of the results. In summary, the most important results of the project are: 1. the current situation report; 2. the Pathways toolkit; 3. the training course for adult education and career professionals and the corresponding didactic manual; 4. the Pathways Learning platform; 5. the short term learning activity for trainers of trainers; 6. the multiplier events.Horizontal activities to ensure the smooth project implementation, dissemination and sustainability of results are also provisioned in the context of this project (project management, quality assurance, dissemination and exploitation strategy).Through the implementation of this project the most important benefit will be for the low-skilled adults to have their basic skills recognised as a means to improve their employability, but also enter into a mindset based on which learning is necessary not only when referring to employment, but also personal development. The focus of the project being on the capacity building of adult education and career professionals is also a very important element for ensuring significant impact, but most importantly sustainability of the project results. The partners are convinced that the added value of the Pathways methodology, along with the high transferability potential will greatly benefit all target groups and project stakeholders identified.
