The European Master of Science in Skin Health and Care (EMOTION) educates the future generation of translational scientists and professionals in skin health and care and equips them with the knowledge and skills to work in research and development and contribute to the conception and development of innovative cosmetics, dermatological drugs and medical devices. While the Master is focused on R&D, it covers the entire spectrum of activities, from ideation to marketing, from setting up a company to post-marketing surveillance. Well-being, diversity, inclusion, cooperation, jointness, communication, entrepreneurship and excellence are key words of the program. EMOTION is a 2-year 120 ECTS program that issues a double degree, from the Università del Piemonte Orientale (Novara, IT) and from either the Universitad Miguel Hernández (Elche, ES) or the Université de Namur (Namur, BE). Every year, 30 places are available (18 with scholarships, 7 non-fee paying and 5 fee-paying self-funded). The first year of the Master is spent in Italy studying early-stage discovery. In the second year, students opt to go to Spain to study non-clinical research and development or to go to Belgium to study clinical development. In the last semester, the student undertakes an internship, which may be in industry or in academia anywhere in the world. The consortium, alongside a roster of knowledgeable academics, also involves a number of industrial associated partners and many lectures are held by guest lecturers that work in the field. Three dedicated workshops are organized in each intake, and visits to companies and fairs are also included. The programme will result in a consolidated and international network of academic and non-educational actors cooperating to develop innovative pharmaceutical-grade, cosmetic-grade and device-grade products for skin well-being and will culminate in the organization of an international conference in the field of dermatology.
