Eat & Greet - healthy sportsmen succeed

Description

The first encounter between the pupils of the schools in Zwickau and Zgorzelec took place in October 2018. This meeting consisted of a visit to the Polish partner school, collective activities and first pedagogical work with the participants of the project.Due to the positive feedback, both partner schools wish to establish these exchanges permanently into the planning of the school year and to make them part of a tradition in the school year schedule, as well as to intensify the cooperation through this mutual exchange opportunity. In order to ensure that all participants and target persons can derive the greatest possible benefit from this exchange for themselves, as well as for their personal future, a pedagogical concept suitable for both children and adolescents has been developed. The pupils experience new possibilities of understanding, ways around the language barrier and the expansion of their own perspective beyond physical and psychological boundaries takes place.By participating in the project, the pupils’ social integration skills will be strengthened, which will be beneficial in their later professional life. In addition, the general foresight, worldly experience, friendship and cooperation with peers from another country promote basic skills and key competencies in the pupils. In a time of xenophobia and exclusion we need friendships that reach far beyond borders more than ever. Our pupils are educated to be responsible, independent thinking people who have no fear of coming in contact with other nations and cultures and according to their personal convictions and experiences, stand for the equal opportunities, values and rights of all people so that the prospects of their own future and those of others will be improved. These are the reasons to promote this exchange project further. Thus, the goal of teaching basic skills and key competencies is at the heart of this project and its related activities. In order to give all pupils the chance to benefit from the project, whole classes are involved in individual activities. The age of the pupils is between 10 and 14 years. The planned activities include a short exchange between pupil groups, collective training for participating employees, as well as a lasting and constant cooperation during the year. During the exchange, the pupil groups learn to work together and to cooperate with one another and as they work on their first mutual projects, they can immediately recognise the success that they achieved. They learn that only through communication with one another, goal orientation and division of responsibilities can they reach their goal. In the days of pupil collaboration, friendships are formed which provide a good foundation for further activities and, moreover, the empathy as well as the social skills of all participants are further developed. In the further course of the project, the collective discussion of topics and questions takes place and a subsequent exchange of results follows. Furthermore, the participants get an insight into the different implementation and interpretation variants. In order to ensure a smooth and successful course of the project, a joint training of helpers will take place, which will enable their timely intervention in the project when required. During the course of the project, transparency and clarity about tasks and objectives are important.A desired result of the project is the fulfilment of the set goals, in other words the acquisition of key competencies and basic skills by all participants. Moreover, the achieved concrete results of the project should be made accessible to all interested parties. A cookbook, numerous photos and collaborative presentations in particular would be the result of the pupil exchange. As a result of communication between the schools during the year, a joint art collection would be created. The cooperation between the two schools will be maintained throughout the period of the exchange and within the scope of most subjects, information from the partner school will be incorporated into the current curriculum of the other school and continuously linked to the project. The result of the evaluation of the project will be the basis for further encounter days and pupil exchange projects. Potential for eventual expansion and improvement of the project will be recognised, as well as successful and positive stimuli from past encounters will continue to be used because evaluation ensures a steady qualitative progress. Children shape and determine the future. All their experiences, knowledge and attitudes will create the world of tomorrow. The positive and cosmopolitan intercultural experiences that they can gather in our project should therefore be made available to everyone. Through positive experiences and impressions, the views of the younger generation are positively influenced. Our project stands for equal opportunities, human rights and a peaceful coexistence.
