nutrition and healthy lifestyle

Description

20 students from each country (from 2nd and 3rd grade: 13-14 years old) would participate in a European project Erasmus Plus KA2 related to nutrition and healthy lifestyle over a period of two years. During the project they would cooperate online (using the e-Twinning platform) as well as via 4 short-term exchange visits (2 per academic year). we should specify here whether the group of students participating in the project would be the same throughout the two years or there will be two different groups)There would be different areas involved in the project: Physical education, Science, Maths and English (as this would be the communication language). In the first phase, students would mostly keep record of their eating habits as well as the amount of physical activity they do on a daily basis. They would compare and interpret the data of their respective mates from the other country. At the same time they would investigate on topics related to nutrition, eating disorders, physical activity etc via short-term projects which would enhance the use of ICT (padlets, flipped classroom, infographics etc).In the second part of the project, students would share their typical national recipes and students from the other country would prepare the meal and analyze it to see its nutritive value. They will also send each other parcels with typical food from their area, students will have to do “blind tasting” and then analyze the product and its nutritive value. Students will also elaborate a personal vlog, where they will record their culinary experiences and their physical activities. In the third and final phase of the project, students should be able to suggest each other how to improve their habits related to nutrition and physical activity and elaborate a culinary book and weekly planner of physical activity.Throughout the project students will also tackle issues related to environmental problems and discuss the problems of unnecessary packagings, recycling or imported food as opposed to the use of local seasonal product. The two centres will organize different events where the whole educational community gets involved, like sports days and international cooking days.During the 7-day exchanges, students will try to live the routine of their mates and compare how this change of diet and lifestyle affects them (they will be able to monitor this process thanks to the “watches” given by the universities). They will also participate in different activities including a conference on nutrition and healthy lifestyle where they will introduce the results of their investigation and will try to discuss other important issues with an expert guest.
