THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF MIGRATIONS TO EUROPEAN CULTURE.CONTEXTThis project is the continuation of the Erasmus + KA229 ""United in Diversity"" carried out during the 2018/2020 period. In this project we focus our work on the integration of people with disabilities. But we realized the need to continue the project based on cultural diversity and different origins, since an important part of our students affected by migrant families or belonging to ethnic minorities. Some of these students have identity and integration problems that affect their schooling.PARTICIPATING SCHOOLSLe Bastion College, Carcassonne (France)Vedruna La Presentation school, Alcoy (Spain)Descartes TDK College, Tartu (Estonia)MAIN OBJECTIVE: EXCHANGE OF GOOD PRACTICESSPECIFIC OBJECTIVES1. Teaching students to investigate their origins and feel proud of them.2. Demonstrating in a practical way that migrations have been common throughout history.3. Helping students to analyze the contributions that different cultures have made to the society in which they live and to the construction of the European Union.4. Preventing early school leaving, suffered by a part of migrant and ethnic minority students by enhancing their culture and origins and making them feel part of this common project.5. Promoting a comprehensive approach to language learning based on the linguistic diversity present in the classrooms of the three schools participating in the project.6. Developing in the students the key competences that serve to learn to recognize false news in general, and those related to prejudice and stereotypes about migration in particular, through a scientific comparison of the data.7. Promoting common values, commitment and civic participation through the development of social and intercultural skills as well as critical thinking.ACTIVITIES TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALSC1. WHO WE ARE: Students will record presentation videos of their families in English, French or Spanish to get to know each other and as the start of research on their origins. During the 1st mobility, families will prepare typical dishes from each of their cultures.C2. WHERE WE COME FROM: 8 ALCOYAN / CARACASSONNESES / TARTUENSES LAST NAMES. The students will investigate the origins of their families going back to their great-grandparents. Objective, to discover that the majority have a past of migration (national or international).C3. DIVERSITY ENRICHES US. Students will investigate the contributions of migrations to the culture of their country and, therefore, to European culture. With the results, they will create digital question games (Kahoots) to spread the results.C4. THE ROOTS OF A DIFFERENT EUROPE: MIGRATION STORIES. The students will interview migrants and, with prior authorization, they will create oral comprehension linguistic activities with the videos of the interviews and written comprehension with the transcript. They will also learn about the work of two NGOs that work with immigrant families.C5. DISMANTLING FALSE NEWS ABOUT MIGRATIONS. The students will track on social networks to find news about migrations and analyze their veracity with official data, with the aim of dismantling ""fake news"" and developing their critical spirit.C6. WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED AND WHAT OTHERS KNOW ABOUT MIGRATION. The students will reflect on everything learned during the project and will create a survey that the students themselves will pass to citizens of the three participating European cities.EXPECTED RESULTSBreak stereotypes among students, teachers and families about migrants or ethnic minorities and value the richness of diversity.Reinforce the European identity of all the students, and that all feel integrated in the school.Improve the level of foreign languages among students and teachers.PARTICIPATING STUDENTS AND PROFILEThey will benefit from the mobilities24 teachers of different subjects118 students between 14 and 16 years old. This research involves thousands of students, their teachers, non-teaching staff in schools, parents, but also people from local authorities and partner associations in schools. The experiments conducted, from kindergarten to high school, are numerous and generally effective.Objectives.In light of the many results obtained previously, the objective of this project is twofold: to produce a database on quality of life in schools and dropping out, as well as to produce software to assist in the diagnosis of pre-drop-out and to improve the quality of school life.Participating organizations.Within the framework of this project, 21 participants benefited from this co-financing by ERASMUS+: Estonia: 1 university, 1 school, 1 college, 1 high school; France: 1 university, 1 foundation, 1 company, 1 school, 2 colleges and 3 high schools; Romania: 2 universities, 3 colleges, 2 high schools. But 35 collaborations have been set up: England (7 institutions); Chile (7); Scotland (2); Canada (4)...Description of the main activities. The design and implementation of the databases (prod. O2) and the software (prod. O1) required a large number of activities, including:- the realization of two specifications (software and EEPLD platform);- the development of data collection tools in the five project languages on a dedicated server;- an illustrated version of data collection for non-readers;- the supply of the platform training module with synchronous and asynchronous training;- research on the management of schools;- a documentary survey module and a communication module;- the development of tools to help identify the factors that influence different types of school drop-outs and those that improve the quality of life in the school environment.- the obligation to produce a thesaurus and a vademecum on good practices in combating early drop out and improving the quality of life in the school environment (for software). Results and impacts achieved. We have far surpassed our objectives and expectations. The productions are in high demand and are the subject of presentations in conferences (dyads field actors & researchers). The CNSECO (Conseil national d'évaluation du système scolaire) indicated in December 2017 that it was important to create software that corresponds to the one we have produced here, we informed this organization and proposed a presentation of all the results of this ERASMUS+ project.Long-term benefits. The major impact obviously concerns the pupils for whom we do everything possible to limit the risks of dropping out and improve their quality of life in the school. Teachers also benefit very directly as we also develop strategies to improve their quality of professional life, such as that of non-teachers. It is undeniable that the students of the participating schools will benefit from the efforts made to motivate them and re-mobilize them if necessary. The Directors of schools and teachers who participate in this project (but also those who will benefit from it later) will benefit from training, better knowledge and awareness of the phenomenon. They will also have tools that do not yet exist, which will be a major asset in managing the establishment. In addition to training, teachers will then have the opportunity to transform their practices and use tools to limit the risks of dropping out and improve the quality of their students' learning.Transnational exchanges have enabled us to share/develop/adapt practices that are rarely disseminated and yet have sometimes surprising results.Let us not forget the parents who benefit directly from this work and who systematically receive a summary document in their original language. For all those who have never had an action-research experience, this new dynamic seems very profitable to us and will certainly engage them in effective future collaborations. The continuity of this project will be ensured by a network and new tools being created.

(Especially new member states) Aim and goals: Students and teachers worked towards various projects referring to the EU identity and core values such as freedom, democracy, human rights, peace, solidarity, constitutional legality and tolerance. Identity is a social construct. At the moment, the European Union and its inhabitants are doubting and feeling insecure about the European idea and what concrete means it takes to live in the EU and how to identify with this information. Nationalism and other political groups are fighting against the idea of a common Europe. Young people do have a desire to own an identity. This project enabled the students to identify, understand and implement theses values into their lives and act as multiplicators and opinion leaders in their environment to strengthen the idea of a common citizenship. Workshops, research, discussion and presentation of results should contribute to a better understanding of the idea of the EU in the 21st century. Also, this project aided in promoting the cooperation among different faculties of the Sacred Heart Schools in Europe and set up a platform for a European learning and better understanding of our goals. The main goal of this project was to create and develop new teaching materials online and in print about the topic. We could reach this aim in our three meetings in France, Estonia and Spain At the end of the project we planned a small conference with all the stakeholders of the project in Vienna. The objective was to promote and foster the dissemination of the results of our project. We also wanted to make sample lessons to present the outcome of the project to an interested community during this project meeting in Vienna. Unfortunatley we had to cancel the last meeting in Vienna due to Corona.

At the instigation of the school board, a steering group leads the project and chooses a cross-disciplinary theme. A first draft is proposed to the European partners who agree to join the European project coordinated by Le Bastion middle school. Within two years, four European partners (French, Estonian, Spanish and Czech) want to have 400 teenagers (11-15 years-old) work on the contemporary theme of ‘critical thinking’. This project is organized around 2 main areas : European diversity and media education respectively including four and three actions. Each action is collectively developed by a team of multidisciplinary teachers and that of their European partners. The teams lead their action(s) independently but each action is based on exchanges (text, audio or video) with the partners in order to create something in common. Thanks to the allocation of a shared time slot for a video-conference for all the partners, each team will be able to ensure a regular monitoring of its action. The aim of the European project is to develop the skills of young Europeans by making them work together around a theme that is familiar to all European states. The expected outcomes of this project are the final productions of the students that will reveal the amount of work done, the skills that have been developed and the requested knowledge in order to do so. In the long run, the project must allow all partners to improve their ways of working abroad as well as a change of coordination. Moreover, it should allow to enhance the school’s image and to federate the teams.
