At the same time, we want to learn about our cultures and countries.Participating organisations are highschools from the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Turkey. The main topic of the project is active citizenship. Mobilities will be focusing on using art in charity (fashion show Mulberry Flower and Christmas concert), ecology and preservation of nature, practical use of chemistry and biology in preserving nature and a democratic process (MUN).During 2 years we will organize 6 mobilities (2 in each participating country) for always 9 students and 2 accompanying persons from each school (81 students and 18 teachers overall). Each mobility will last 4 days (plus 2 days for travel) and will be preceded by virtual activity in order to prepare participants to the mobility, gain basic knowledge about the topic, find the common ground and get to know each other.Participants are students of partners' high schools (aged 15-19), interested and active in the relevant topic. The students will be accompanied by teachers who have knowledge/experience in the field relevant to the topic of activity (biology, chemistry, art, civics etc. and language teachers) and who speak English. The methodology of activities includes discussions, brainstorming, group work, team building activities, observing the lessons at the host school, practical activities, the Model of United Nations, evaluation and self-evaluation.We expect that thanks to the project the participants will broaden their horizons and develop their skills in the topic of charity and using art in charity, improve their knowledge and skills in the field of preserving nature, improve their knowledge of UN and diplomacy, improve their ability to discuss and understand different points of view, improve their self-esteem, knowledge about other cultures, countries and languages, raise their tolerance, improve the knowledge and use of English. Additionally, schools will improve their skills in project management and management of the international project, improve their knowledge of Erasmus+, gain new contacts and confidence for new, bigger projects, gain the knowledge of foreign school systems, gain inspiration for further work with students. In long term - experience, knowledge and skills gained through the project will help to raise the level of social involvement of participants in relevant topics (ecology, charity, active citizenship), it will improve the level of teaching chemistry, biology and English language in schools, it will help in building common European identity, in breaking barriers inside Europe, exploring various aspects of European identity.

What matters to us, as teachers, is to show them how to cross information (national information and international information) to be fairly informed and to make up their mind. Young people nowadays are more and more dealing with media of all kinds, the news are spreading rapidly and teenagers feel like they’re having a fast-pace and easy access to information thanks to these media. However they’ve got to understand that the same news is not treated the same way according to the country where it is dealt with. Thus to see and compare the differences in the way the news is treated according to the different international media will allow the pupils to recognize /spot the cultural aspect behind each national media. They will also learn, by the way, to be accustomed to the way the other nations “think” and to their ways and means. In case they travel they will better adapt themselves thanks to this knowledge of the other countries and will also better understand foreign mentalities. In the end, not only will they improve their linguistic skills (in English and German) but they will also be more open-minded and will certainly long to travel all over Europe. The common project whose goal is to make our pupils act in a responsible way when they are dealing with the media (and make sure they will become autonomous and efficient) will enable them to realize that among Europe and despite the cultural differences, many countries share common values. At the end of the project, the pupils from the three partner-schools will have to create a “good user guide on how to efficiently use the media to be fairly informed”. This guide will be available in each school participating at the project, in German and in English, in the form of a “paper-guide” available in every school library but also in the form of an “e-guide” broadcast on every school website. This guide will give useful tips to efficiently unmask fake news and to check the sources of the information provided. The activities and school meetings common to the three partner-schools aim at making pupils get accustomed to the way they can efficiently deal with any kind of media. Every two months they will create a newsletter dealing with what’s going on at school and in their towns or regions. This newsletter will be broadcast on the Twinspace platform. Based on a group work, they will also create a tv news bulletin in which will be included reliable and fake news to train them to be an efficient audience. That will also be a way to understand how news are broadcast or how they can sometimes be fabricated. All the pupils, the teachers participating at the project will learn how to use softwares like Photoshop and other video-editing softwares. They will be taught as well to analyze algorithms which can influence the broadcasting / spreading of fake news.During the school exchanges, the pupils hosted will attend lessons in French, German or Turkish schools. During the school exchange in France, they will visit the European parliament in Strasbourg. The “good user guide on how to efficiently use the media to be fairly informed” will be created gathering the results of all the scheduled activities (e-activities and “real activities” while visiting the partner countries). After that two-year project, all the participants (pupils and teachers included) will be perfectly trained to unmask fake news and will be able to teach that method. They will be reliable peers to explain how the different kinds of media operate and will know more about the jobs of the media sector. They will efficiently check the sources of the information they’ve found. In the end, they will be autonomous and responsible users of media. What’s more they will be good at collaborating with foreign partners communicating in English or German. This project will strongly impact on the lives of the students participating at the project : they will have the opportunity to get acquainted with students from other countries, they will discover new cultures and will travel in foreign countries. The exchanges will allow them to get accustomed to the ways and means of other European countries. Thus they will certainly be motivated to keep on traveling and improving their speaking skills in foreign languages. What’s more the project will enable all the pupils from the three partner-schools to become responsible and autonomous users of media. The parents of the students attending the three partner-schools and the local community of each school, will also have the chance to learn more about media in general and the way information is treated differently in every country thanks to conferences, exhibitions and school websites presenting the students’ activities dealing with the project.

Its effects are serious and may be long-term. According to the OECD PISA assessment (Pisa 2015 Results (Volume V)) of collaborative problem solving, on average across OECD countries, 28% of students are able to solve only straightforward collaborative problems, if any at all. In Europe, among the 9-16 year-old participants in the EU Kids Online survey (2011): 12 % were bothered or upset meeting online contacts offline, and 80 % were fairly or very upset by cyber-bullying and 17% by bullying at school. Prison studies shows that 6 in 10 criminals never had any friends in secondary school. Considering the results and needs we have decided to work on the project where students learn how to prevent problems like bullying, violence, exclusion, how to work on 3 values and 4 principles: to show courage to say NO, to live and to care. Students will learn why the skills such collaboration and leadership, critical thinking and problem solving are essential, what approaches can be used to practice and improve them. We strongly believe, if students have these skills developed, they won't allow others to bully them and they won't want to humiliate others. It is very important because the world is opened, there are a lot of refugees in all countries, and it is a challenge to provide their real well being at school and out of school. Also we will pay attention on how young people can transfer the knowledge they have learned to other people and become coaches among their peers. Considering the results we would like to organize the project, during which we will teach our participants how to prevent problems like bullying, violence, exclusion, how to show courage to say NO, to live and to care. We will teach why the skills such as leadership, critical thinking and problem solving are essential, what approaches can be used to practice and improve them. Also we will pay attention on how young people can transfer the knowledge they have learned to other people and become coaches among their peers. There are a lot of programs and activities run by different associations, but most of them are out of school or some organizations are visiting schools from time to time. We would like to create a program with methodological materials which will be involved in schools’ curriculum, it will be as a part of learning process. The aim of the project is to bring students to social life as young people who have high self- confidence and the ability to work in a team, can express their thoughts freely and are sensitive to their environment and society. We aim to ensure that young people with high level of awareness will be able to discuss local or global issues in a tolerant, polite, formal manner within the framework of their own world views as well. With this project we also aim to develop awareness of European citizenship.Students from five partner schools (Turkey, Latvia, France, Portugal, Spain) at the age 14-18 will actively involve the activities of the project in their everyday life. Students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds as well as gifted students will have a chance to attend the meetings. There are many reasons why this project should be carried trans-nationally. First of all, to create a program which will be useful in different countries and students will understand each other, it is necessary to understand the traditions and environment of different schools. It is a fun way of learning about different cultures. In this era of globalization, being globally aware is more important than ever. When students debate or work together on different problems, they improve their performances, can work in a team, support each other and care of themselves and of each other. Students will recognize their skills and qualifications and will make contribution to the efficiency of education, employ-ability, innovation and active citizenship as the European Commission has announced as priorities. In short, teenagers best learn the skills to participate actively when they act it. Thus, our project will allow them to learn leadership and collaboration principles not only in word, but also in deed. Students will form relationships with their peers, teachers, school leaders and community members.
