<< Objectives >>We are creating a website for teachers in kindergarten with fun and practical workshops and lesson plans to raise awareness of energy consumption. Teachers can download and use these without too much preparation to give impactful education. Education that ensures that teachers and pupils are more aware of their behaviour changes their habits and uses less energy. On the platform's interactive part, they can share their best practices to inspire each other.<< Implementation >>We will organise physical partner meetings to set up the project and digital meetings every four weeks to monitor progress—digital en personal surveys among teachers to get a particular idea of their needs. Then we build the interactive platform, develop the teaching programmes and design the workshops. We evaluate, adjust and promote our platform.<< Results >>Happy teachers who are helped by an interactive platform where they can download complete teaching packages and workshops that fit the curriculum and, without too much preparation and knowledge, make their pupils more aware of their energy consumption, change their behaviour and save energy. We hope for a first small ripple in the pond that will eventually cause a big wave. We want it to be a tsunami!

<< Objectives >>We want to ensure that sufficient qualified personnel is available for the jobs that are needed for de-carbonization. We do this by making pupils and students aware of available and emerging jobs and courses and explaining to them how they contribute to the energy transition. << Background >>The DIGITECH project is about the Development of dIGItal and information TECHnological competences by teachers and takes place in the context of the COVID-19 crisis with the climate crisis and the energy transition in the background. This Erasmus+ project focuses on the digital skills that school teachers from both primary and secondary schools need for digital teaching during and after the COVID-crisis. Based on experience, work needs to be done especially on the way of teachers in coping with digital learning environments. Hence, our main goal with the DIGITECH project is to decrease and ultimately take away the backlog of current teachers in using digital skills in teaching.The time of having a separate IT department has passed. If you want to work with digital skills, you have to do this in every terrain. No matter if you teach mathematics, chemistry, languages, or any other subject, we have to work on the digital skills of both teachers and students in all areas. In this project, we are going to work on the improvement of digital skills in the area of sustainability and energy transition. We firstly focus on teachers and then think of how we can train and equip them to teach their students the digital skills that they need.<< Objectives >>This project aims to train teachers to work with digital tools after the pandemic, building further on skills and needs developed during the pandemic. We are going to test and improve the developed toolkits in several existing educational programmes on sustainability, with a focus on the Energy Challenges programme.We will firstly focus on facilitating discussions and evaluations of teacher’s experiences with using digital tools in the classroom. We will use our lessons learned to improve and strengthen digital educational tools, make them more sustainable, future-proof, and pandemic-proof. We will look at how the tools are embedded in the participating schools and which capacity and skills are needed to further integrate them. Secondly, we are investigating how we can improve the content of our developed toolbox and develop a training programme. To do this, we are testing it in multiple schools executing different existing educational programmes from our international project partners. Tknika, the center promoted by the Deputy Ministry of Vocational Education and Training of the Education Department of the Basque Government, will be a central supporting partner in this. Tknika is modeled after some of the world’s most advanced vocational training centers.<< Implementation >>The duration of the project will be two years. Through digital platforms and regular partner meetings, we will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and co-creation of digital teaching methods. Through action-based research methods, we will explore together with teachers, students and actors from outside the classroom how digital tools can improve education and also how these tools serve to connect students to the energy transition in the real world. It will be suitable for Industry and Digitalization 4.0. The tools will be collected within one toolbox that builds digital skills capacity and will be supplemented by the local context. It serves in such a way that students together with teachers can come up with creative solutions to solve the climate crisis with the use of digital tools and skills and subsequently initiate action and mobilize actors around them through digital platforms. The international programme of Energy Challenges '2IMPRESZ' will be introduced, as a pilot for digitalization in primary and secondary education. During the project, there will be three physical two-day gatherings (if possible) in a central place that can be reached by train. Traveling by train contributes to the image of a Green Recovery after COVID-19, and stimulates the idea that flying is not necessary anymore in a digital era. In these two-day gatherings, teachers’ experiences with using digital tools during the COVID-19 pandemic will be evaluated and discussed. We will use a design-thinking-inspired method of diverging and converging problems to come up with solutions. We will co-create digital tools and methods that help to teach in an efficient and more sustainable way.<< Results >>In the project, teachers will have learned how to adapt their teaching to the needs of Industry and Digitalization 4.0, with lessons learned of the COVID-19 crisis on the background. There will be optimal use of the digital tools available. The teachers of the sustainability education programmes from our international partners will have been trained to use digital tools to keep their students involved and enthusiastic, and to stimulate creativity in new, innovative ways. Also, the content of the developed toolbox will have been improved to optimally stimulate the digital skills of both teachers and students. The lessons learned on how to foster digital skills through sustainability education and a training programme for capacity building will be disseminated in the four participating EU member states. By integrating our findings into 2IMPRESZ and other existing educational programmes operating in both primary and secondary schools, the results of this project will remain and evolve in the future.

<< Background >>Our consortium consists of partners supporting primary, secondary and VET education in the sustainability field. We work with and for schools on the Sustainable Development Goals. We often do this on behalf of school boards and municipalities, so that the impact we make takes place at regional or national level rather than just sticking to one school. We work on SDG 4 (Quality education), (Sustainable cities and communities(11), (Responsible consumption and production (12) and Climate action (13) by working with students and teachers on contributing activities. For this project, we want to work together to provide a new service to the educational field (primary, secondary and VET), which is to create what we call an amazon.com of providers and service providers to schools in the area of sustainability. As consortium partners we noticed that there is a multitude of providers of sustainable project for education. For example, there are already several labels that a school can achieve, such as ecoschools or the united nation schools. In addition, a multitude of challenges and separate projects exist. But there is no overview of providers, let alone a ranking of quality. We thought there would be a need for this and investigated it. The focus is on the provincial level, given that it is not realistic to map the supply at the national level in three years. We have done research at the provincial level per country among the schools to see if we are right and if there is indeed a need in this area. In the Netherlands we did this in North Brabant, where we spoke to all the schools. Of these schools, 90% indicated that they did not have an overview of sustainability offerings and had this desire. They also confirmed that they would make use of this platform. The other partner, GoodPlanet contacted primary and secondary schools in their network to ask similar questions to verify if this problem is similar in Belgium. This was the case. Declory is a private institute for vocational education. They recognize the issue from their own perspective. With this project we want to start a long-term cooperation with a consortium of European organizations; municipalities and the educational sector to work together on the development of an international platform including training that meet the needs of the sector and simultaneously the linking with the SDGs and other relevant tools.. We fill a needed gap with this platform. To ensure that the products are properly connected to the sector, it is important to examine the needs of the schools within this project. Which requirements are needed of the providers for a school to decide if this is a service that meets their needs? Associated partners of this project, the municipalities, play a key role in the project for input on these subjects. Based on this input the platform is going to be set up and flled. The partners in the project aim to work towards a systematic exchange of providers in the sector between the provinces and schools. In this project we focus on to raise standards of education in sustainability and improve quality of this branch throughout Europe with the goal of having 5 million young climate innovators trained by 2030 in Europe.The project will produce two core project results are:PR1 International online Platform with providers on sustainability for primary and secondary schools. We achieve our contribution by supporting schools by building a quality online platform which schools can freely use to find providers of sustainability projects programs and/or labels. We're building capacity by capturing our working method which can be duplicated by other regions.We do this by-To organise focus groups in order to identify and focus on specific sustainability providers that best address the needs of the project’s stakeholders.-To map best practices and methodologies applied for schools in partner countries. (What works and why) -To develop a trainers’ guide addressed to the schools and providers that will work with the platform and will design, support and evaluate the platform - Monitoring framework for measurement of use and results.This leads to our two core project results.<< Implementation >>In this project we are mapping initiatives of providers of sustainability projects, programs and or labels for primary schools, secondary schools and VET institutes. This mapping is done in an to be developed International online Platform. A complimentary guide is developed in order for schools and providers to use the platform. When developing the platform we take into account what the end users (Schools) need on information to decide which provider they want to hire. We also take into account that providers can’t share all information because of the unique selling points. A more detailed description of the Project Results and their results is given in a later section of the proposal.Other results expected during the project:Awareness raising of the importance of sustainability in general. The project partners will carefully design targeted activities to companies in order to collect input for the platform.
