Lack of innovation management capacity is recognised as an important barrier to creating economic impact (competitiveness, growth and jobs) from innovation activities in SMEs. Consulting services in that area are not available to SMEs in many European regions as a result of lack of offer, unaffordable market prices or poor quality. To address this, this action shall provide specialized consulting services addressing innovation management capacity to SMEs which possess significant innovation activities. Beneficiaries of the SME instrument shall as well receive support to enhance their innovation management capacity through this action.

The core objective of the project is to contribute to boost the full innovation potential of SMEs identifying weakness in their innovation capacities and in their innovation management capacities; this identification, and the proposed plan, will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of investments in research, development and innovation; and empower the SME to overcome those weakness. This services will be provide in the framework of the Enterprise Europe Network as support network. The network will provide the link to the regional innovation ecosystem. To achieve the above-mentioned objectives the proposed project will: a) Identify challenges to the creation of economic impact and innovation needs in SMEs beneficiaries of H2020 funding schemes SME Instrument (hereinafter referred to as SME-I), Fast Track to Innovation (hereinafter referred to as FTI) and Future and Emerging Technologies Open (hereinafter referred to as FET-Open). This service is called 'Key account management' (KAM). It is planned about 83 such services during the years 2020-21. b) Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation processes in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with significant innovation activities that could potentially become beneficiaries of European funds for research and innovation but would not have effective access to consulting services for innovation management. This service is called 'Enhancing the innovation management capacity of SMEs (EIMCS). The aim is to provide about 54 services of this kind. c) Create an active link between the SMEs and the Enterprise Europe Network, offering the beneficiaries of the above described services SMEs the EEN services.

“IInnovation services for enhancing SME innovation management capacities in Madrid Region- INNMADRIMASD 3” is a proposal addressing the topic ‘Enhancing SME innovation capacity by providing better innovation support “under Horizon 2020. INNMADRIMASD 3 will provide innovation services to SMEs in Madrid through the Enterprise Europe Network as a suitable structure to provide in depth support services to SMEs in the area of innovation management. Furthermore, beneficiaries of the SME Instrument under Horizon 2020 will be entitled to receive specific targeted support from the Enterprise Europe Network to support coaching assignments addressing specific innovation weaknesses for Madrid based SMEs.
