"KA 2 ""THE GREEN SCHOOLS"" PROJECTThe 21st century has been called the ""century of the environment."" Schools-and individual citizens - can no longer assume that social challenges such as pollution, dwindling natural resources and climate change can be set aside for future generations. The Green schools Project is an European project designed to encourage and acknowledge whole school action for the environment. The Green schools offers a well defined controllable way for partner schools to take environmental issues from the curriculum and apply them to the day to day running of the school. This process helps pupils recognize the importance of environmental issues and take them more seriously in their personal and home lives. The Green Schools aims to Improve the school environment • Reduce litter & waste • Reduce fuel and electricity bills • Increase environmental awareness • Involve the local community • Gain local publicity • Create links with partner schools The Green Schools aims to use a ""Four Pillars"" framework that integrates efforts to reduce schools' ecological footprints, make school environments healthier, and get the whole community thinking about solutions to the problems we face. Schools have the potential to make positive, tangible environmental change in the world while teaching students to be stewards of their communities, the earth and its resources. The Green School will give a tremendous opportunity to teach students about ecological sustainability, environmental health and nutrition; meet ICT , science and social studies standards; integrate environmental education into curricula; and support students to become leaders in making their own school a healthier and more ecologically friendly place. The Green schools provides an extremely cost-effective way to enhance the student learning and health abilities, reduce operational costs and environmental impacts of the schools, and increase a community’s overall quality and competitiveness. Our project will support teachers and our students from 4 different schools, 4 different countries across Europe to combine civic and environmental education inside our classrooms with learning experiences outside the classroom. Green School Project will improve the health and energy-efficiency of the school facility, ensure science-based environmental and civic education in the classroom, implements healthy food choices into the cafeteria, promotes alternative means of transportation, and expands recreational choices and opportunities for all students. We believe in creating personal responsibility for the environment among students around Europe to promote a more democratically active citizen. Working from the ground up, The Green Schools empowers teachers and students to remedy specific environmental concerns in their schools and communities with demonstrable outcomes and results. Teachers, parents, and students have the ability to help our schools become more sustainable. School managers can monitor their energy use. Teachers can promote environmental education in our classroom curriculum. Parents can propose more sustainable practices- like using green cleaning products- at school board meetings. Students can start re-use and recycling programs to help reduce waste.

1- Maths is a lesson which requiers abstract and concrete thinking. That's why students consider maths as a difficult lesson to be understood and managed. Our students' maths success level isn't high enough and they have difficulty in entering universities. Classical teaching and learning methods are not sufficient for students to acquire the subject in the class. So we decided to make this project. Our OSYM maths net average is in 2011 :22.08, in 2012 : 23.14, in 2013 : 20.26 , in 2014 : 19.98, in 2015 :17,56 . It is seen that there is an obvious falling in maths success average in the last three years in our school.Besides ,countries are using the analysis of PISA and TIMSS data to evaluate maths performance and to identify the reasons of low success. In these analysis ,it has been seen that the maths success level in Turkey is lower than the other countries. 2- Our objectives are to improve the performance of the pupils particularly those at risk of dropping out ,to enhance students learning ,to rise up the success level ,to make teaching both more effective and efficient , to use technological facilities for students benefit and to cooperate with European partners. We want to make students love maths and believe to manage it via technological devices such as internet ,mobile phones ,interactive boards, etc .The students instead of wasting their time in front of the computer, will use internet for their goodness in maths. Our school is a google school and we have been using google school method for sixteen months. In this project we aimed to carry this method to transnational level .We want to share this method with partners from other European countries ,to see technological developments and different approaches applied in these countries , provide social and cultural sharing positively. 3- Our project will include 45 +100 participants in mobilities. In general activities totally 145 persons will take part. Our project will include teachers who are open to new technology , ready to cooperate with teachers from other countries for a better education, want to learn innovative ways of teaching and learning and the students who have difficulty in learning maths by classical methods and want to enter good universities or get a good job. 4- Our activities are : Kick off meeting in Turkey in November 2017 : Introducing of project and partners, task distribution ,annual plan will be done. Second Transnational Meeting in Mecodania in June 2018: The flow of the project will be evaluated. Last Transnational Meeting in Italy in June 2019: Project evaluation and final report. The cooperation between the shools will be supported. 7- The rate of the students at age of 15 and who has insufficient ability in reading, maths and science will be supported to be less than 15%. Support will be given to using IT tools in maths teaching and learning process in order to catch the Europe standart.By sharing experiences with partners from other European countries, different approaches applied in these countries by using technological developments, will be learned.By comparing the maths curricula of different European countries benefit will be got and new things will be learned by determining our needs .
