The ESI model consists of financial & non-financial mechanisms designed to work together to improve the risk-return profile of EE investments & overcome the associated barriers to stimulate the demand for EE projects. It consists of: (i) a standardised contract, which clearly establishes the setup to guarantee energy savings to the SME; (ii) a performance insurance that is used to compensate the SME in case the EE project does not reach the expected energy savings; & (iii) validation mechanisms that provides an independent assessment & verification of the project. These three mechanisms work together to create trust & credibility between actors, & convince SMEs to invest in EE. The model is supported by communications, dissemination & outreach activities, as well as capacity building & EE investment roundtables targeting key market stakeholders, including technology providers with EE solutions, financial institutions, SMEs & others, to create dialogue between the relevant stakeholders & facilitate access to EE finance. The ESI model presents a proven & unique, market based approach that makes use of distribution channels & products that are already available on the market. The ESI mechanisms is complementary to other schemes & available funding, such as green credit lines, credit guarantees, or energy audits.

The issues raised by climate change are especially important to young people, who in their lifetime will be impacted most by climate change. The international response to these challenges has been inadequate and in particular, adequate innovative practices in communicating climate change to young people have not been developed.NEEDSOrganisations focused on climate change and young people need to explore good practice in communicating the issues in a non-doomsday manner. Such methodologies must be inclusive and address diversity. There is also a need for developing social, civic and intercultural competences among young people to empower them to act and to influence decision-makers.AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: Aim: To form an international partnership in order to raise the capacity of parts to manage manage international projects and to motivate and empower young people to get involved in issues and decision-making associated with climate change. Objectives•To raise the capacity of partners to manage international projects•To identify good practice in communicating information on climate change to young people.•To promote intercultural dialogue, strengthen acceptance of diversity in society and promote active citizenship among young participants. It is becoming one of the key policy topics throughout the EU, but the region most affected by energy poverty is the area of South-East Europe - new member states as well as accession states. The energy costs are expected to further increase in the future, due to the fossil fuels depletion and taxation of greenhouses gases emissions directly contributing to climate change. A change in energy consumption habits is required across all social groups but is the most pressing in groups affected by energy poverty or endangered by it. Therefore the project Innovative Direction in Energy Advising (abbreviation: IDEA) purpose was to develop innovations in education about energy poverty. In the course of the project implementation, the most important objective achieved was to improve existing and develop new innovative educational methods and materials for adult training on energy poverty. For this reason, within this project, curriculum for training was developed, enabling the trainees to act as energy advisors to the energy poor thereby increasing their housing quality, improving indoor environment and decreasing energy bills. The innovative educational tools developed, allow for high quality learning outcomes. The number of stakeholders providing training on energy poverty will be increased by their use. An international network of organizations and individuals involved in energy poverty education was created and will be sustained. The partnership consisted of experienced organizations strategically placed in the most affected region - in Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia and Cyprus. The partner organizations acted as information hubs in their own respective states and also to the neighboring states where energy poverty also presents a heavy burden. Within the project duration, the partner organizations' skills was increased by participating in intellectual outputs development and in the joint staff training event which supported them in further dissemination, through multiplier and dissemination public events and by using the ICT dissemination tools (web pages, social networks, webinars), thereby sharing the gained knowledge and acquired skills with organizations and individuals active in the area of energy poverty. Much more than the 5000 expected individuals (at project application stage) were reached by the project activities. The following intellectual outputs were delivered: overview of already existing materials and training needs assessment; educational program and best practice exchange through mobility; energy poverty educational tools; and educational dissemination tools. For each of the intellectual outputs one of the partners was the leading organization, with other partners contributing to the content. Only after one intellectual output had been delivered, activities on the next output would commence. To ensure a high quality of the delivered outputs, a quality assurance plan was devised in the beginning of the project implementation, followed by 4 six-monthly quality reports. Four transnational meetings were organised with virtual on-line meetings in between physical meetings. The results achieved by the project implementation are: - Report covering all partner countries on the state of the art of existing methods and practices in terms of education about energy poverty and the training needs in this subject, accompanied by a database of stakeholders - Educational programme with a curriculum for adult education about energy poverty - Set of innovative educational materials and ICT tools - Guide to accompany the curriculum and to help interested stakeholders to implement it, complemented by video tutorials for each tool and an overview webinar in each country - Website to allow access to all the educational materials and guidance - On-line platform (facebook group) to allow exchanges and sharing of practices between stakeholders active or interested in the adult education on energy poverty The listed results are expected to contribute to the following long term benefits: - Reinforce adult skills and competencies in the field of energy poverty and energy advising - Solving the issue of energy poverty and simultaneously addressing the issue of climate change - Raising awareness of European citizens on the rising issue of energy poverty - Help the unemployed to identify energy advising as an opportunity for them to find job opportunities

Previous common experiences and the shared certainty of the importance to emphasize that alternatives exist and are being practiced, thus to reinforce the perception of possible socioenvironmental changes and the self-perceived ability to be part or generate them, are the basis on which we built the project idea and the partnership. We think that combining an online training on global environmental issues with field-visits to local solutions and communities involved in tackling climate change will result in the enhancement of youth and youth workers capacity to take action, networking and participate in social and political processes regarding climate issue. Moreover, through a developed educational game the youth will apply knowledge and competences acquired during the training to a proposed scenario and figure out how they can change/improve it.The project aims at raising awareness in the youth about the solutions side of the climate change debate by discover, discuss, analyse and spread local and concrete examples of alternative economic models within the 4 countries participating in ClimAlt.SPECIFIC NEED 1: Citizens are not fully aware of climate change, they still perceive it as something distant. They are often not able to link causes, effects and possible alternatives.SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE 1: Enhanced youth critical attitude towards climate change issue: they are aware of causes, effects and solutions.EXPECTED RESULT 1: 100 youth taking part in the 2-years training (online training, webinars) and 250 attendees participating in public events and youth-driven activities.SN 2: Citizens feel powerless in front of climate change, they don’t feel that individual actions can contribute to reverse course, they are still waiting from top-down solutions. There is a need to bridge the gap between causes, impacts and solutions, showing that climate change is occurring with it terrible effects, but we can be part of the change. SO 2: Youth empowerment and reinforced capacity to take action, networking and participate in social and political processes.ER 2: 39 youth participating in mobility activities and contributing to the organization of public events in their countries.SN 3: In the era of fast communication, complex problems need smart and innovative tools to attract people attention.SO3: Increased offer of contents and tools for youth, youth workers, educators in the field of environmental education.ER 3: 3 new educationalproducts developed by the partnership freely available on the project website and disseminated by communication and dissemination activities to 10.000 youth, youth workers, educators, students, volunteers, activists, citizens.SN 4: Environmental organizations often do not have the necessary resources to broaden their networks and capacity to advocate for sustainable solutions, compared to big corporations supporting the mainstream economic model. SO 4: Strengthened partnership among organizations committed to promote an alternative and sustainable economic model.ER 4: 2-years networking and expertise sharing among the partnership.Among the outputs to be developed and tested by the partnership: an e-learning training course on climate change causes, effects and possible solutions for youth; 4 in-depth webinars focusing on alternative model best practices; an educational game to enhance youth constructive attitude towards climate change phenomenon and ability to link the knowledge and competences acquired during the training to a proposed case.4 mobility for youth are foreseen by the project in 4 countries, they will add great value to the training and the overall project because of their pivotal role in connecting theory and practice, problems and solutions, case studies analysed and people or communities involved in the creation and implementation of viable alternatives. The mobility will complement the previous phase of the training by associating global environmental issues discussed with a 3-day fieldtrip through solutions to tackle climate change. Although such solutions are generated from different socioenvironmental ad geographical contexts, they are all answers to climate change related issues and they all constitute virtuous and inspiring attempts to take action against such issues. An additional staff mobility is foreseen to strengthen their ability to network and create partnerships, to share their complementary expertise and develop educational materials and activities.Project material will be freely available on the online platform to facilitate post-project exploitation and dissemination among youth, youth workers, educators, volunteers, activists and citizens. In addition, public events will take place in each country in order to disseminate project’s intellectual outputs.
