“W-always” has been a two-year project developed by IES Azorín (Petrer-Spain), Collège Lycée Marseilleveyre (Marseille-France), Egri Pásztorvölgyi Általános Iskola és Gimnázium (Eger-Hungary) and Thomas-Mann-Gymnasium (Berlin-Germany) and their staff and students. The project arose from the observation of a need for a deeper self-understanding of our present reality through the values and the legacy of our past, and in the hope of tackling biases towards future global positions. Hence, the schools aimed to address EU-wide issues related to our heritage and the youth engagement in these matters. The main objectives of the project have been to reinforce the students competences by means of a multidisciplinary approach based on tasks and projects and to foster the knowledge and preservation of our heritage by developing expert ICT and promoting the synergy with other institutions. “W-always” contains in itself the essence of our goal. On the one hand, the expression “we always” summarizes the priority of our project: our heritage (what we were, what we are and what we will be). On the other hand, “W-always” encompasses the expression “WE ALL” as well as the elements “WALLS + WAYS”, two basic notions that served as the scaffolding of the project. The activities of the first year revolved around our “WALLS”, understood as our identity. We approached both our tangible heritage (remains of buildings, walls, archaeological sites…) and our intangible heritage (music, dances, cuisine, festivals etc.). The walls, which separate us in many senses, but which ultimately define who and how we are. The activities of second year were devoted to the “WAYS”, those that lead us to find about the others and to talk, share and agree on how to keep our heritage for future generations. We departed from a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach that provided our students with ITC knowledge and research tools. We researched and implemented the Design Thinking methodology, which served as a springboard to build a much more challenging working relationship among students and with local institutions. Besides, we applied the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which helped us to create more inclusive and sustainable resources and to raise awareness about the importance of intercultural understanding. All this work has ended up in written and audiovisual tasks, oral presentations, exhibitions, games, numerous relevant authentic materials and useful educational tools. In this sense, the learning site and preservation proposal of a piece of the Berlin Wall found next to the Thomas Mann Gymnasium and praised by the Chancellor Angela Merkel is a powerful example of the objectives achieved by W-always.“W-always” will never end up on the scrap heap of history. On the contrary, most of its results are available for learners, their communities and anyone who may want to use them. Besides, teachers from all the schools have benefited from the training and methodological innovations and will continue to use this knowledge in class. “W-always” sustainability lies yet beyond these benefits since we are positive that this project has helped our students to become critical thinkers, committed youngsters and confident life-long learners. It has enabled them to develop transferable high- quality skills and has certainly helped them to become better EU citizens.

Objectives of the project: The project “Our Digital Science Lab” is aimed at developing key competences in the areas of Biology, Geography, Chemistry, Physics and foreign languages, using mathematical methods and digital tools. What is more, the students participating the project will have the opportunity to broaden their foreign language skills and digital competences. Our teachers’ experience will be the base for preparing new and interesting proposals (experiments, trips, active method lessons, local guides). Number and profile of participants: All students of our schools will participate in the activities organized during the project preparation, follow-up, implementation and dissemination. Some of the them will take active part in the mobilities. The choice of the students taking part in mobilities will be based on equal opportunities for male (50 %) and female (50 %), language skills and the interests and competence in the Science subjects. Some of the project participants will have economic, educational, geographical and social obstacles and demonstrate cultural differences. Description of the activities:1) Creating a Digital Science Lab – e-learning platform, which will be used as a main dissemination channel. It will include all the pedagogical materials for students and teachers, created throughout the project2) Creating project website, containing a description of the project objectives, the partners, the activities and other important and up-to-date information3) Creating Educational Path 4) Preparing photographs, digital presentations 5) Creating project brochures and leaflets6) Organizing meetings with the project participants7) Inviting local authorities and parents to school during important events of the project8) Handing in the lesson scenarios to a school library and publishing them on project website and e-learning platform ”Digital Science Lab”9) Showing the project products on special project exhibitions10) Preparing films 11) Preparing media publications12) Organizing open lessons13) Organizing open-air/ indoor actions/events, e.g. funny and entertaining happenings, the action of collecting electrowaste14) Organizing Science and Foreign Language Competitions for students of local schools 15) Sending e-mail messages addressed to students, parents, teachers of our and local/regional schools, key stakeholders, local educational institutions and local authorities16) Distributing the pedagogical materials prepared throughout the project to local libraries and educational institutionsMethodology to be used in carrying out the project: Working in groups. Using IT and digital tools. Using active methods and the method of micro and macro projects. Using distance learning. Using experiments, educational trips. Short description of the results and impact: We will create (without the money) such intelectual outputs as: • ""Environmentally-friendly school - green programme"" • Educational Path accompanied with local guides• E-learning platform The materials created during the project will be available for the public in digital form, freely accessible through the Internet on e-learning platform “Digital Science Lab”The results and the impact which are expected on the project’s completion:• A strong motivation to learn Science and high level of competence in this area • Acquiring by students a high level of knowledge referring to the issue of renewable energy, environmental problems and solutions• Creating the valuable source of materials for students and teachers – Digital Science Lab, Online Course, Educational Path • A high level of competence in English and Information Technology among students and teachersPotential longer-term benefits:Young people will acquire knowledge about Science, environment and renewable energy sources. They will get to know environmentally-friendly habits and ways of beahaviour. Consequently, they will be more conscious citizens of the planet. We will exchange and share all the created teaching and learning materials between us and present them to the other schools and teachers, using online and digital. We will use ""Environmentally-friendly school - green programme"" in planning future curricula of various subjects in our schools."

rEtribUte is a Project coordinated by IES Azorín in Petrer, Spain, whose partners are ISIS D’Aronco in Gemona, Italy, Thomas-Mann Gymnasium in Berlin, Germany, and Egri Pásztorvölgyi Altalános Iskola és Gimnázium in Eger, Hungary. The coordinating school, together with the German and Hungarian schools have successfully developed an Erasmus+ project on Eurpean cultural heritage (KA229 We Always) in the past two years. The Italian school will enrich this alliance with their experience in service-learning methodology, key to our proposal.rEtribUte is justified in the context of action involving Sustainable Development Goals (Envision 2030) to reduce inequality, in particular, intergenerational (SDG 10.2) and education (SDG 4). It aims at specific goals benefitting both the educational communities involved and society.Students will benefit from the improvement of their attitudes and commitment to the reality of elderly people in different EU countries. Strengthening of their active and efficient participation in their environment in an autonomous way. Contextualization of learnings in the acquisition of key competences through complex tasks and their application through methodologies like service-learning, problem-based learning and design thinking. Cooperative work will be developed in heterogenic groups from an interdisciplinary perspective. Teachers: Improvement of methodological, linguistic, digital and teaching competence thanks to the learning of tools and success practices in other educational systems.Community: Development of synergies between schools and social institutions working in the training, assistance and leisure of elderly people, whose empowerment will be achieved through dissemination of their experience and action against the breeches that directly affect them, like the digital one.To meet these objectives, the project is designed to cover five mobilities and their interim periods of time.C1 Italy: Teachers’ meeting to settle agreements and service-learning training from the experience of the Italian school.C2 Hungary: First students’ meeting, dedicated to sounds in our lives.Resources based on testimonies and contributions revolving around music and dance will be generated using podcasts, videos and apps, in an effort to recover traditions in new formats. The elderly will benefit in the learning and use of new technologies.C3 Italy: Devoted to reflection on experiences. Changes undergone in the administration of time, activities and historical limitations due to different reasons (like gender or critical situations) will be analysed. This will produce audiovisual testimonies, timelines, infographics, etc. and the practical development of an app that will make elderly people’s lives easier.C4 Germany: Focused on places in our lives. We’ll look into their changes and share “virtual” routes significant in the history of each country. This will result in an exhibition using different new technologies, like virtual reality and QR codes, whose main visitors will be the elderly people who have collaborated in each country.C5 Spain: will have words in our lives as its main subject. Starting from testimonies given by the elders, words in disuse will be documented and associated to present reality. These words will be introduced in dynamics like micro stories or mimics and games which will be offered to elderly people in analogical and digital formats. The inclusive vocation of the project is empowered by the methodologies used:Service-learning, as a means to mobilize knowledge, abilities and values in an answer to the situation of the elderly and as a commitment to improve it.Project-based learning, as a motivational methodology, favouring participation and an authentic learning.Design thinking, in the approximation to a problematic situation, and the generation of ideas, prototypes and the products that face it.These activities and methodologies will give support to the achievement of the above mentioned objectives. Moreover, they will contribute to the training and an active and solidarious participation of students, teachers, educational communities and social entities, especially those devoted to the elderly. The result of the action will mean the improvement of coexistence and social cohesion in the environment of participant schools on a long term basis. With this aim, and in an international framework of exchange of good practices, we’ll be involved in the dissemination of generated products with a social impact, in an educational action which is the foundation of the project.
