The factors behind digital S&P threats are numerous and interconnected, as a combined result of inappropriate software practices, bad user habits, and lack of regulatory enforcement and certification methods, among others. To define effective digital S&P policies and to establish a long-term vision, it is needed to have data, information, and a body of knowledge on privacy, data protection and the associated ethical, legal and socio-economic aspects. TRUST aWARE aims to address this situation by providing actionable intelligence and tools for the different connected stakeholders, to offer effective mechanisms to protect the freedom, security, and privacy of citizens, enhancing TRUST on SoftWARE, cybersafety, and EU’s market position. TRUST aWARE will facilitate this by delivering: - User-friendly tools to protect consumers against S&P cyberthreats (attacks, abusive practices, inappropriate behaviours of digital services) to enable them to better understand, control, detect and respond to S&P threats in a timely manner, and configuring their own S&P protection settings. - Collective intelligence for CERTs and Authorities in collaboration with citizens, CISOs and DPOs to ensure and audit that digital products and their S&P practices are transparent, secure and compliant with regulation. - Knowledge to foster S&P-by-design in software engineering by supporting developers and operators with standards and certification methods for compliance with S&P regulations. By providing tools for key stakeholders along the whole cycle (TRUST aWARE virtuous cycle), and supporting cooperation and intelligence sharing, TRUST aWARE will minimize the impact of cyberthreats, empowering users, promoting collective awareness, and encouraging trustworthy S&P-preserving digital products in compliance with regulation.

The aim of this project is to prepare tools for educators and creators of educational programs from countries of the project participants who are able to deal with the activation and education of people over 60 in an attractive and effective way. The basis of COM-IN is diagnosis that the most important reason for excluding older people is insufficient communication skills understood very broadly. It is not just about individual assertiveness or communication with peers and the younger generation. This category also includes difficulties in understanding media and official communications and documents, lack of ability to reach the information needed and assess its credibility, lack of digital skills (Internet, e-mail, instant messaging, online shopping, booking ticket or a visit to a doctor, digital banking, electronic office, etc.). Communication skills also include: ability to use foreign languages and formulate messages tailored to the needs of modern recipient, as well as ability to present their opinions in a public forum. Communication exclusion drastically limits the social and civic activity of seniors. The COM-IN project is a continuation and development of ""Silver Civic Education"" project implemented in 2017-19 under the Erasmus + KA204 program with partners from Portugal and Bulgaria. It was based on educational model used by the SSP in working with seniors. During implementation of this project, some disadvantages of our model were revealed that may significantly impede its dissemination. The main disadvantage is excessive focus on journalistic creativity and creating a medium. The disadvantage is, among others too much focus on creating the medium and creativity of journalism. Such an ""ambitious"" approach also excluded people with lower education and qualifications from education, as well as those who do not use written language efficiently (eg immigrants). Meanwhile, journalism is a great communication education tool and a means of making workshops more attractive. However, it is not an end in itself. The essence of our method is to build a team, to find a place for everyone and - in an attractive form - enable them to acquire knowledge and skills. Meetings of the editorial team should be used to conduct workshops to improve participants' skills. Medium (website or profile on FB) plays an auxiliary role. In addition, a strong media orientation requires educators to have great journalistic skills and experience, which greatly limits the number of potential trainers. The main goal of COM-IN is to improve our educational model so that it becomes more universal and available in different countries and environments. The result of this cooperation will be development of educational materials suitable for practical use in various countries and languages. Project partners will implement innovative methods that increase the attractiveness and efficiency of their educational offer. The project also contains intellectual work result - a guidebook ""Journalism for seniors. An educator's manual"" containing recommendations, methods and training tools useful in working with seniors as well as other adult age groups."

Code: 2020-1-TR01-KA227-ADU-097696Funder Contribution: 235,983 EURWe are experiencing a historical moment with an unprecedented challenge of the COVID-19 global pandemic. The outbreak of COVID-19 will have a long-term and profound impact on older adults’ health and well-being.Social isolation and loneliness are likely to be one of the most affected health outcomes.Social isolation and loneliness are major risk factors that have been linked with poor physical and mental health status(Wu,B.Social isolation and loneliness among older adults in the context of COVID-19:a global challenge.glob health res policy 5,27(2020).https://doi.org/10.1186/s41256-020-00154-3)While scientists and researchers scramble to better understand the ways in which the coronavirus affects the body,we have a very clear understanding of the ways in which social isolation and loneliness affect people’s health and especially senior’s.Those who do not feel sufficiently connected to others and are deprived of social contact are more likely to:have weaker immune systems and catch colds, develop dementia, develop cardiovascular disease, live shorter lives(Source: Age UK)Experts indicate Art Therapy(AT)can play a crucial role to prevent mentioned dysfunctions.AT involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring or sculpting to help people express themselves artistically and examine the psychological and emotional undertones in their art.It helps older adults explore their emotions, improve self-esteem,relieve stress, improve symptoms of anxiety and depression and cope with a physical illness or disability(Source: Psychology Today)Since shared artmaking involves meaningful interpersonal interaction,it fosters sustained involvement, increased motivation and social inclusion(Cohen,2006;McGrath,O'Malley&Hendrix,2011,Moody Phinney,2012)On the other hand,it is a well known fact that people regress physically, mentally, emotionally and socially in older ages According to Eurostat statistics in 2019,20.3% of the EU population was aged 65 years or over.Across the EU Member States, the highest share of the elderly in the total population was observed in partner country Italy(22.8%)followed by Greece(22.0%), and another partner country Portugal(21.8%),In Turkey, elderly population reaches 9.1% of the total,by 7.550.727 people, according to TUIK statisticsDue to the recent increase in the elderly population and physical and mental adaptation problems of the elderly. The need for increasing the quality of elderly care services is becoming more and more obviousIn the light of the mentioned facts, the project aims to facilitate the application of AT techniques on older adults and their caregivers to ensure their mental well beings especially during the lockdown and social isolation timesBy carrying out this objective, the project will also contribute to increase quality of elderly care servicesThe project will produce separate intellectual outputs for 2 target groups:Training Course Programme and Materials and M-learning Application will be developed for training of Adult Trainers who work in Elderly Social Services.Trained adult trainers will provide guidance to seniors who reside in Elderly Care Institutions.Activity Book,Video Series and Podcasts will be developed for guiding seniors and their caregivers to make them perform AT Activities on their own. After the completion of Intellectual Outputs, they will be used and exploited in following project activities:LTTA with participation of 30 Adult trainers,Local Workshops to be held in partner countries with participation of totally 60 Seniors,60 caregiversMultiplier Events to be held in partner countries with participation of 160 representatives from Elderly Care Sector, health sector, adult education sector, public authorities, relevant stakeholders. These activities will lead to following results in targeted groups:AT activities will promote senior’s socialization and communication allowing for an alternate means of connecting with others, helping to lessen feelings of loneliness and isolationAT will relieve stress and depression of seniors.Creating art allows for an open expression of feelings, which can help relieve stress, anxiety, confusionThe activities will promote self-awareness and self-expression of seniors.Expressing themselves through art can be a powerful, meaningful way to share their lives with othersThe adult trainers will learn the art therapy method, which is predicted to have an impact on the loneliness and psychological well-being of the elderlyAdult trainers engagement will be increased through the use of m- learning,After dissemination and exploitation of the mentioned results, long term benefits will be followings:Seniors will gain resilience to all negative effects of the pandemic like stress, anxiet, social isolationIncreasing competency of adult trainers on AT will increase the quality of Elderly Social ServicesSpreading use and easy accessibility of digital learning tools will enhance the quality of adult education.

Several actions have been undertaken at EU level to promote well eating among seniors, however, the educational programs sometimes use methods that are not extremely motivating for the older users.FA4AG aims at promoting good nutrition habits among seniors by proposing innovative game solutions to explain nutrition. The gamification dimension will at once boost seniors' motivation to learn more about well eating and promote ICT use among older people.A nutrition guide will be available for all seniors in order to learn more about good nutrition habits. The learning dimension will be strengthened by the Nutrition Games Platform that will host the nutrition games and will be specifically tailored on seniors' needs in terms of usability and acceptability. These 2 tools are the main results of the project, which the consortium will co-design thanks to the involvement of the seniors from the very beginning of the project and will test and validate with them.

GNU Taler is a privacy-preserving digital payment system developed by the GNU community and Taler Systems SA with additional funding from various NGI calls (NGI0 PET, NGI0 Entrust, NGI POINTER, NGI TRUST). GNU Taler offers privacy for the buyer while enforcing transparency on sellers. As a result, citizens do not suffer from surveillance when paying with GNU Taler, and States can ensure that businesses can be held accountable for their income and pay their taxes. The first vertical addressed by TALER is the financial industry. TALER will bring GNU Taler to TRL 9 by making GNU TALER available as payment system via retail banks (via GLS and MAGNET Bank). TALER counts three verticals for its go-to-market strategy. The first is the publishing sector: independent book publishers and journalists will integrate the sector with GNU Taler as a viable payment system. The e-health sector will implement GNU Taler as payment option for e-Health providers to guarantee privacy of the payer. Finally, the FLOSS ICT supply chain vertical will integrate GNU Taler in the FLOSS development ecosystem for donations and pledges. We expect TALER to have several long lasting impacts: By providing micro payments at very low overhead GNU Taler permits Internet business models to shift away from advertising revenue or subscription models, especially for online publishers, The no-risk transactions will lower transaction fees and open online payments for the underbanked population and citizens marginalized from digitalisation. Finally, easy to use, efficient and privacy-respecting commercial payments will likely impact the debate on central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) such as the Digital Euro, as central banks globally struggle to present a compelling use-case for their retail CBDC projects.
