<< Background >>USWE was launched to update the descriptions of the VET profiles in the Shipbuilding Sector registered in ESCO .The purpose was to update the most demanded VET profiles to include the emerging skills request by European shipyards. USWE also wanted to adapt the sectoral VET profiles to the demands of industry 4.0 and to the environmental regulations. For that purposes, USWE had given relevance to the transversal and green skills so necessary for the exploitation of industry 4.0 technologies.<< Objectives >>The general objective was to provide evidence of skill needs in the Shipbuilding Sector. It was divided into smaller operative objectives:O1: Gather and interpret evidence of skills needs.O2: Analyse trends and challenges impacting the sector.O3: Assess the skills gaps and mismatches .O4: Analyse the impact of such skills needs on growth and employment.O5: Analyse major trends affecting interrelated sectors to capture potential spill overs.O6: Identify needs in terms of training provision.<< Implementation >>USWE was executed through:Analyse the skills management situation in the sector.Forecast trends and challenges.Describe the production process to identify phases, activities and skills.Gather information from stakeholders to validate the proposals of USWE.Adopt some EU Tools as supportive models for our work.Analyse the European Shipyards’ and Online Agencies' job offers.Write the description of the 25 most demanded VET Profiles.Write recommendations for policy makers and stakeholders.<< Results >>We consider that among the number of results achieved by USWE, the following ones are the most relevant:R1: Analysis of the State of the Art regarding sectoral skills management.R2: Identification of drivers of change and the impact of Industry 4.0R3: Adoption of a Sectoral Taxonomy of 50 VET ProfilesR4: Descriptions of 25 VET Profiles for European Shipyards, for Training Providers and for VET studentsR5: Recommendations for stakeholders and policymakers and new European projects proposal

EURATEX, COTANCE, CEC and INDUSTRIALL Europe, the recognised European social partners in the Textile, Clothing, Leather and Footwear (TCLF) sectors, together with the support of SPIN360, have implemented the Digital TCLF project with the aim to concretely respond to the existing digital skills gap in the TCLF sectors and the needs for skills development in one of the areas where the change in future is expected to have the greater impact: digitalisation of the skills related to industrial production in TCLF. A previous study carried out under the TCLF Sector Skills Council in 2014 had identified 13 new occupations emerging within the sector. In view of the rapid digital transformation since 2014, project partner activities initially concentrated in analysing and confirming with the support of sector experts the opportunity and validity of such occupations before inviting the industry for their validation. Once the names and conceptualisation of the occupations were finetuned, the partners worked on the characterisation of the profile of the 9-emerging digital occupations and the correspondent required skills sets, included digital skills, by the creation of a single and harmonized matrix, using the European skills/competences, qualifications and occupations (ESCO) format. A first extensive forecasting survey on digital skills in the industry was carried out in order to forecast the future demand of these occupations. Likewise, a second research analysed the current VET curricula and training offer in Europe by conducting a survey among almost 50 education providers and in-depth interviews with another 15 institutions from 12 EU countries. As the concluding outcome of Digital TCLF and elaborating on all the results achieved in the previous stages of the project, partners present a roadmap proposal aiming to guide the TCLF stakeholders involved at the EU and national level on the priority actions to be taken in order to address the 9 emerging digital(ised) occupations and the 19 related digital skills that the project has identified. All these conclusions and the results have been disseminated by the consortium through the updates on the project website, the publication of 4 newsletters sent to the relevant stakeholders and the Final Event of the project held in Brussels.

Forward Looking at the Offshore Renewables will promote the core activity of the Large-scale partnership launching the Pact for Skills in the Offshore Renewable Energies (ORE) sector.FLORES will support the most committed stakeholders in the ORE, underpinning the success of the offshore renewable energy strategy with the stimulation of dedicated training offers. The partnership will promote the skilling process for the new jobs expected in the sector, estimated to account for between 20,000 and 54,000 new workers in the following five years and contribute to improve upskilling opportunities in the field of the actual ORE workforce.Skills intelligence activities will identify and prioritise the most relevant actions in the capacity-building process, covering not only the rapid and complex changes occurring in this industrial ecosystem but also capable of forecasting those changes yet to occur, especially regarding new and emerging technologies. Building on industry insights, the occupational profiles of the offshore renewable energy value chain will be reviewed, contributing to the continuous updating of the ESCO database. The necessary re-skilling and upskilling processes will be stimulated by the FLORES innovative approaches to lifelong learning with the development of specific tools to support existing ORE training offers and smooth access to existing training materials.A set of multilingual educational materials will be developed to promote Ocean Literacy and awareness- raising in career and job opportunities in the European ORE sector, making those more attractive, especially for young people and women. In addition, the bottom-up approach selected by FLORES will feature regional pilot actions adapted to the differing needs of Europe’s sea basins in the Atlantic, the Baltic and the Mediterranean. These pilot actions will form the seed source for future mirror working groups in the large-scale partnership launching the Pact for Skills in the ORE.

The LeaderSHIP project brings together main industry leaders, EU and national social partners representatives, regional clusters and education providers to collectively boost innovation, competitiveness and resilience in the European shipbuilding sector and the entire maritime value chain, through the development of a sectoral skills strategy, the design and implementation of EU-level training and by building sustainable cooperation of the EU Shipbuilding and Maritime Pact for Skills. Building upon the results of previous Blueprint projects and the knowledge and expertise of the partners, the LeaderSHIP project will design and implement secondary and tertiary training for up- and reskilling current and future workers in key areas to support the industry in meeting the needs of the twin digital and green transition. The project will deliver the current and emerging skills to reduce the carbon footprint of the industry and accelerating the use of renewable energies and new fuels and electrical power. The project will also deliver key skills for the digitalisation of the design and production processes and remote and connected maritime operations. The Project is organised in a top-down approach, it will deliver EU-level courses and qualifications and establish the mechanisms for their recognition and implementation in the different countries and companies in the partnership to facilitate workers and learners mobility. The courses will make use of innovative methodologies and technologies incl. e-learning, WBL and blended learning approaches. Rooted in the EU sectoral social dialogue between employers and workers representatives the Project aims to enlarge and strengthen the existing large-scale partnership by engaging stakeholders across EU maritime ecosystems to promote sustainable cooperation on skills mobilise resources, incentivise upskilling and reskilling actions and promote inter-company and business-education partnerships and collaboration in Europe.
