ASSUNTA DI ROMAFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2022-1-RO01-KA220-HED-000089402Funder Contribution: 400,000 EUR<< Objectives >>The general objective of the project is increasing the number of students with Special Education needs enrolling in Higher Music Education Institutions (HMEIs). By the end of the project the partners will create a self-paced course for reinforcing the competencies of HMEI teachers and administrative staff in the field of Special Education, creating a new professional role aimed at monitoring on social inclusion practices and training process and create a community of inclusive HMEIs.<< Implementation >>Following the results of a detailed training need analysis, the partners will develop a training course for HMEI teachers, HMEI administrative staff, including the tutor specialized in SEN, to be first piloted within the partners' organization. After this first validation, the revised course will be delivered to the same target groups in other HMEIs. Thanks to the external feedback, the partners will revise the materials and develop an open and freely accessible self-paced course.<< Results >>By the end of the project, the partners will develop two e-learning courses (one for HMEI teachers and one for administrative staff/tutors), aimed at improving the learners skills and break down the barriers that limit the access to HMEIs to people with Special Education Needs. All the training materials will be freely and openly available on an e-learning platform in English and partners' languages. The partners will also create a community of practice around the project topic.

The COVID impact on young classical music HEIs students, still undervalued, has been meteoric, creating a “lost generation” of artists out of the normal performance circuit (Coronavirus consequences for the cultural sector EU Parliamentary Research Service 2020). In a few months, HEIs and the music and art world needed to find a new way to operate, and music students themselves had to dramatically rethink their skills and performance models (The Future of ICT for Creativity and Creative Industries European Commission, 2021).MUSense is to fill a gap, forging HE Music Institutions to embrace the digital shift and “stimulating innovative learning and teaching practices” in order to sustain and achieve new innovative performance practicies and leverage the digital media potential,.<< Objectives >>The main outcome of the project will allow targeted groups to establish a new attitude towards the performance event and the audience. MUSense will approach digital technologies not just as a simple additional communication system but will highlight how and in which way the introduction of technology transforms the music experience and the traditional aesthetic (Technology and music performance in the age of mechanical reproduction Frederickson 1989). MUSense, therefore, is planning to create in music HE actors (students, teachers, staff, governance) a unique mindset revolution able to knowingly act on the normal chain of art expression that has been around for centuries. Teachers, staff, and students will rethink their active position in engaging the ""remote"" general public (or a wider audience, or non-specialists) as part of their curricula and artistic performance, radically changing the relation skills-performance-audience. In MUSense, the dynamic and enduring interaction between skills and cyber performance becomes the crucial future of the new digital creative and didactic model.<< Implementation >>MUSense will- Build new curricula and best practices in digital technologies, virtual and augmented reality referring to music;- Create innovative models in cyber and distance digital music performances; - Prepare students to deliver pilot blended live and distance performances, involving audience, despite the current health emergency, both in presence and remotely, via IT- Raise partners’ capacity to change at the same time the training practices and the dissemination of art forms - Create specific course modules to update skills, competences and know-how, based on digital technologies also capitalizing previous experiences and practises of former projects;- Establishing international mobilities of artists (international blended mobilities, short training activities and intensive projects) able to promote new learning attitudes; - Strengthen sustainable future entrepreneurship opportunities throughout digital capacities.<< Results >>MUSense plans to realize the following results:- Identify via analysis and studies international models and best practices in innovative forms of cyber and distance performances;-Trace the most innovative models and curriculum development in IT and cyber practices within music performing events;- Create an online repository in form of an open platform by organizing all expected results in an easy to be accessed organic form by HEIs actors and stakeholders. -Realize training and teaching activities targeted to music students, teachers, technicians, and staff building the capacity to create new skills in the relationship between public and music performances; - Draw comprehensive guidelines on new models and best practices."
