From our years of experience working with the volunteers we think ahead to create more innovative opportunities for the youth covering a broad range of activities, offering the right trainings and giving formal recognition to the skills and experiences gained. Thus, Mladiinfo Slovakia, together with its partners from France, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, decided to launch a project that made a connection between the existing EU programs for volunteering and build an online platform with all necessary information regarding the volunteering in developing countries, including the non-formal education trainings for capacity building of the youth organizations staff with necessary skills and capacities, as well as containing a list of crucial requirements that need to be met for hosting and sending volunteers in Asia. The implementation of this project that involved 6 diverse partners from 2 continents was a pilot program for connecting the European Voluntary Service with EU Solidarity Corps and EU AID Volunteering programs will bring additional value to the European society that is built on solidarity as a shared value which is strongly felt throughout European continent.

The consortium of the partners we have created for this project are organizations that work towards development of youth competencies mostly via volunteering and education. Volunteering is one of the most rewarding experiences young people can get. According to the EU Strategy for Youth – Investing and Empowering “Showing solidarity to society through volunteering is important for young people and is a vehicle for personal development, learning mobility, competitiveness, social cohesion and citizenship. Youth volunteering also contributes strongly to intergenerational solidarity.” Moreover, one of the objectives of the same document is: “to mobilize youth in global policy-making at all levels (local, national and international) using existing youth networks and tools.” The project is innovative in the connection of three so far “unrelated” topics being it: development aid, volunteering and social entrepreneurship. In this perspective the project would contribute changing the perception of the development aid as such, and in the broader sense to change the view on reducing of the poverty in the African countries. Local people understand their needs much better than the foreign aid can provide to them by donations, however lots of case missed the human resources which could bring their ideas even further as well as the promotion. We should therefore look at the “old problem” with the new perspective and ideas which can help to solve in in a more effective and rather sustainable way.Main objectives of the project with an impact to be reached are: - Share the knowledge and experience of the partners in the volunteering management, development aid from the innovation perspective, motivation, mentoring and coaching of the volunteers (train the trainers).- Create a local awareness by inviting the people to take part in the info days/ debates and therefore contributing to the stronger ecosystems and the support mechanism for volunteers, organizations with involvement of the local communities as well (local info events organized by each partner).- Creating the opportunities for volunteering activities for the young people from Europe, helping in the impact-driven organizations in Uganda and Kenya (8 young people to be sent). - Spreading the information about impact-driven projects and volunteering and contribute to breaking the stereotype about “poor Africa” that needs to be saved by development aid.

Youth volunteering also contributes strongly to intergenerational solidarity.”Moreover, one of the objectives of the same document is to: “mobilise youth in global policy-making at all levels (local, national and international) using existing youth networks and tools (e.g. structured dialogue) and address climate change and the UN Millennium Development Goals Actions by Member States and Commission within their respective spheres of competence.”The project of EuroAsia Volunteering Assistance program after its first edition, in which we could map the hosting organisations wants to promote youth empowerment through volunteering opportunities and social entrepreneurship examples with regions outside of Europe even further – in order to inspire the young people how they can become job creator and not job seekers and at the same time to support the development of youth work on other continents.Volunteering is one of the most rewarding experiences young people can get. From the learning of the first project we are implementing we have faced different challenges with the volunteers on their way. However, working in the developing country can be very challenging for the young people, also for the hosting organisation, the self-development, problem-solving and critical thinking are the crucial skills to be improved for all the participants. The EuroAsia Volunteering Assistance vol. 2 (EVAP 2) is mostly focused on the training part of the organisations and building up on the knowledge and experience already achieved, inviting to take part in it for more local partners and therefore contributing to the stronger ecosystems and the support mechanism for volunteers and organisations.
