This will result in support and guidance that strengthens the capacity for CCI-actors to engage in and contribute to complex innovation processes. The interplay between the projects activities will allow us to deliver two objectives – building the meta-network amongst ecosystems and developing the knowledge-based and participatory policy engine – which will come together in making the third objective – supporting the development for CCI-centered ecosystems – possible. The engine is designed to in three main phases (i.e. five steps) achieve this: -Assess needs for future R&I actions - List of defined policy areas together with a meta-network of networks covering all member states and the CCI diversity. -Mapping of needs CCIs; tech, invest, skill, regulation - Investigate prioritised policy areas looking broadly and across sectors, also focusing on recommendations that will (i) increase the CCIs’ readiness for green and digital transitions as well as for the rest of the economy and society. -Identify and propose key actions - Formulate policy recommendations, also giving practical guidelines of how to implement and track development in ecosystems. ekip brings together highly networked and diverse organisations with strong track-record in research, innovation, and policymaking for and with the CCIs. Beneficiaries from 12 countries with different social, cultural, and economic contexts. Leading universities with expertise on research and innovation in culture and creativity. Organisations with online data collection and analysis competences and visualisation skills. Specialised policy consulting companies and advisories will be linking practice, research, and innovation with policy development for the CCI.

It lays its groundwork in the Open Design School pilot initiative promoted under ECoC Matera 2019, thought to be an open laboratory pivotal to the successful implementation of the ECoC programme. The project organizes a steady network to challenge the concept of urban sustainable development underpinning the Open Design School. It is in-depth discussed, tested and improved by benefiting from know-how, expertise, best practices and lessons gathered within close and comparable experiences from partners and stakeholders. It strives to enable EU regional environments and research-driven settings – both physical (Creative Open Spaces) and virtual (a multi-sided Creative Knowledge Platform) – that allow VET systems, professionals, researchers, policy-makers and local people to engage in iterative processes of innovation and problem solving to generate solutions to local challenges (RIS3) and deliver them to SMEs and other entrepreneurs, public bodies and everyone who need them. This approach enables educational opportunities in design and innovation, critical thinking and entrepreneurship to find creative and cost-effective ways to connect within and across regional territories. Cooperation and education provide opportunities to access skills, competences and research infrastructures. Players are all involved in feedback-loops allowing creative innovators to be more responsive and attractive. They can iterate, learn, and share with others, feeding innovation. Furthermore, joiners are allowed to assess social needs at local level and iteratively evaluate and improve their solutions by a trail-and-error approach that encourage sharing of lessons learned and best practices.

Creative Professionals and designers, who want to implement their customer project with CO.Design methods require new skills and competences, which are not trained in the participating organisations and regions so far. That was the motivation for the initiative of six partners committed to supporting the creative industries sector across Europe: Creative Region (Austria), University of Art and Design (Austria), Academy of Fine Arts and Design (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia), Deusto University (Spain), Creative Industry Kosice (Slovakia) and the European Creative Business Network to create and distribute brand new Co.Design pedagocic materials. Based on an in-depth best practice research on Co.Design good practice in Austria, Spain, Slovenia, Denmark, Slovakia and the Netherlands we developed a Co.Design Best Practice Report in English presenting 25 Good Practices extracted to 8 major findings being integrated in the Co.Design curriculum combining cutting edge design theory with hands-on knowledge and hands-on examples. The course will be accessible for free to any educational institution wishing to implement it in their programme, and will include both study materials and coaching to the teacher. The Curriculum was piloted in a hands-on work based Co-Design training in Austria, Holland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain by trained CO-Design trainers under various socio-economic and socio-cultural context in order to make it broadly transferable to design universities and other design teaching providers. Finally all learning and findings of the Piloting was incorporated in the collection of various CO.Design training materials. In addition to the transferable and adaptable Co.Design Curriculum, we developed a Co.Design TraintheTrainer Handbook, Online Educational Learning Ressources and a CO.Design Essentials. The last one is available in English, German, Slovak, Slovenian and Spanish. All materials are downloadable on www.cocreate.training. The outputs of CO.CREATE empower designers with new entrepreneurial skills in CO.Design, new competences, skills and approaches to do better business, offers them new job opportunities through work based learning and Online learning.

Based on innovative multidisciplinary approaches, CYANOTYPES tackles the sector’s potential for innovation and competitiveness, which deals as well with challenges presented by, among others, COVID-19, the digital transition, and the green shift. The project title references the iron-based photographic process that lead to the term “blueprint” we know today.[1] Inspired by this key moment of innovation, CYANOTYPES sees in this very practice an exemplary episode from the pre-digital archive of arts-and-technology experimentation that inspires creators to this day. Invoking a pre-digital technology, CYANOTYPE cautions that “the digital” is itself in a moment of transition, offering us new possibilities and perspectives. While we anticipate growing roles for AI, Big Data, and synthetic content generated by data-driven systems in the immediate future, we also see the need to imagine multiple futures on which innovation in CCI education depends. Earlier projects indicated that advancing vocational education programs should follow the guiding principle that the “Community is the Curriculum”, moving on from the idea of a wholly centralised, institutional approach to learning. CYANOTYPES builds anticipation into its methodological framework to empower creators to imagine multiple futures and to make their processes more environmental-friendly, sustainable, resilient, and dynamic. Organised by a triple loop learning framework focused on how we “learn how to learn”, CYANOTYPES’ integrates specific and transversal skill sets organized by key thematic areas to serve as context-specific points for different stakeholder groups. CYANOTYPES provides short- and longer-term strategic interventions and concrete skills development solutions that can be adopted across the European CCI ecosystem.

NEBI is a green initiative of the European Union, bringing together the aspects of sustainable development, beauty, and democracy under one roof to build beautiful, sustainable and inclusive places to live together. For the moment, the concept is defined on the European level as the EC President, Ursula von der Leyen says ‘’The New European Bauhaus is a project of hope to explore how we live better together after the pandemic. It is about matching sustainability with style, to bring the European Green Deal closer to people's minds and homes’’. To materialize the said reality, we would have to get a snowball effect, taking upon opinions of experts in architecture, urbanism, construction engineering, technologies, sociology, business, politicians, and most importantly of the European citizens in their cultural diversity. Young people have to play an important role in the discussion, as this discussion is not only about the physical framework influencing the way they will live, work and spend their free time in the future, but about the future of our planet. And it is them that risk not being consulted. Based on the carried-out surveys the topics of sustainability and participatory co-creation of cities seem to be too complicated for them, they have very little information and many times they feel powerless to change the way their city looks. Considering that, the complementary international Consortium of 4 partners, initiated by Creative Industry Košice, Slovakia, as the Project Coordinator; GEYC Association, Romania; Teatro Circo de Braga, Portugal; and CollectiveUP, Belgium, was created to design a project – Youth 4 Bauhaus which offers activities, tools, and space for the inclusion of the youth into co-creation of sustainable, inclusive and green cities and public spaces. The project addresses two streams of needs. 1. The needs of participating organizations (and associated partners) in the cooperative partnership: - to increase the capacities of the project partners in themes addressed, but not solely, by the NEB – such as beauty and sustainability of public spaces and cities, inclusion, accessibility, co-creation of cities, democratic participation and togetherness, digitalization and gamification,- to increase the capacities of the project partners in working with youth on participating in the city co-creation and learning how to facilitate discussion on city co-creation between the public authorities and the youngsters,- to look for innovative digital gaming tools to address the topics of NEBI,- to strengthen international collaborations, develop international networks and boost the internationalization of project partners’ activities. 2. The needs of the participating youth, derived from surveys:- to name the tools and possibilities of engagement to act on climate change,- to give the youth voice and competencies to change their surroundings into more sustainable, green, and beautiful places,- to provide them with external expertise (beyond schools) of knowledge and skills on urbanism and spatial planning, ecology of cities and sustainability, inclusion, empowerment, engagement, best practices and examples,- to have subject and courses in the formal education system, which would teach them the above-mentioned expertise,- to broaden their perspectives in international collaborations and sense of Europeanship. The need analysis has helped the Consortium to define the needs of its members, the needs of the target group (young people 15 – 17). Based on the needs, the aim and the objectives and the project results for their achievement were formulated.<< Objectives >>The aim of the project is the capacity building of organisations in the use of innovative approaches to empower and engage young people to practice their democracy in participatory processes in regards to public space co-creation in the city in a sustainable, greener, and inclusive way- in the spirit of the New European Bauhaus (beautiful, sustainable, and together). Through the proposed activities, the project refers to the Youth Goals (YG), mainly YG1- Connecting EU with Youth, YG9- Space and Participation for all, and YG10 Sustainable Green Europe. This will be achieved by embracing the following objectives:- to increase the capacity of the partners to involve and consult the young people in the high school age on issues related to sustainable urban planning, recreating the cities’ brownfield and unused public spaces within the green New European Bauhaus approach. Each partner will involve 40 young people during the project implementation.- to create one transferable methodology (NEBI-enabler toolkit), explaining NEBI and green transition to young people and teachers/trainers by mid-2024. 300 people will gain knowledge on NEBI and green transition.- to develop one innovative digital tool by mid-2024 for allowing young people to formulate, visualize and present their opinions on sustainable cities and planning. 40 people will be involved in the pilot use of the tool.- to include 40 young people in an inclusive and co-creation manner in the production of project results by mid-2024- to create 40 suggestions of young people for the public space improvement in their city in the spirit of NEBI and green transition by mid-2023<< Implementation >>In order to achieve the project objectives, the project designed several types of activities, including 5 training LTTA, 5 Multiplier Events and 3 Project results. Learning, Teaching and Training Activity 1 – Train the Trainers – GEYC Association (month 3), the training invites project partners and associated participants to meet and train in the topics introduced by the project- mainly on the work with youth; urbanism, participatory processes in creating spaces/cities, and NEB; and Minecraft as a digital tool for co-creation. This is the only LTTA, which does not include the participation of youth. Other LTTAs 2 – 5 welcome 40 young participants (5 of which each time are of physical disability – autism, deaf and hearing challenges and physical disability) from 4 partners countries to participate in the proposed activities of being introduced to the NEB initiative and its concepts, urbanistic strategies, co-creating solutions for challenging locations in the cities, to leading dialogues with the local authorities as well as to use digital tools to represent their ideas. The above mentioned LTTAs are designed as followed:LTTA 2 – Design Think Your City Košice – CIKE (month 7)LTTA 3 – Design Think Your City Ghent – CU (month 9)LTTA 4 – Design Think Your City Bucharest – GEYC (month 12)LTTA 5 – Design Think Your City Braga – TCB (month 14) Youth 4 Bauhaus project proposes creation of 3 project results: Project result 1- NEBI-enabler toolkit: green cookbook, participatory methodology, 3D generic model for Minecraft Education, lesson plan – CUPR 2- Young Voices for the Future – TCBPR 3- Inclusive Guide on Participation in a City – CIKE 5 Multiplier Events will be organized in order to disseminate project results to the professional audience.Multiplier Event 1 – Y4Bauhaus: Youth for the New European Bauhaus Event- CU (month 12)E2 – Youth 4 Bauhaus @ PLACE! – CIKE (month 15)E3 – Sustain Your City – GEYC (month 16)E4 – International Online Presentation for Public Authorities – TCB (month 21)- inviting the associated partners and organisations, international partners cities, mainly from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network – UCCN.E5 – Youth citizens for the New European Bauhaus – TCB (month 20)- are designed to locally In order to properly implement the project, there are 7 Transnational Project meetings planned, a sound communication and dissemination campaign as well as a high quality management plan and Quality Assurance plan. The meetings are organized with the periodicity of 2– 6 months, 4 of them happening in the physical space, 3 take place online:M1: Project Kick-off meeting in Košice– March 2022 (month 1)M2: Project Partner’s Meeting Online – August 2022 (month 6)M3: Project Partner’s Meeting in Ghent – February 2023 (month 12)M4: Project Partner’s Meeting in Bucharest – June 2023 (month 16)M5: Project Partner’s Meeting Online – November 2023 (month 21)M6: Project Partner’s Meeting in Braga – May 2024 (month 27)M7: Project Partners' Meeting Online – July 2024 (month 29)<< Results >>The Youth 4 Bauhaus project results in creating 3 outputs/results: PR 1 – NEBI-enabler toolkit by CU relies on 5 tangible deliverables: a green cookbook, participatory methodology, 3D generic model for Minecraft Education, and lesson plan. The green cookbook will contain information about EU/green initiatives, specifically the New European Bauhaus, and how to create urban spaces with sustainable building materials. The participatory methodology will be a step-by-step guide to work with young people to support them to get their ideas heard in an inclusive manner. The 3D generic model will contain a 3D representation of an urban place at a river, and will be easy to import into Minecraft Education to work with young people. All materials will be glued in the form of a lesson plan which will work on the subject of sustainable cities and youth participation. PR 2 – Young Voices for the Future created by TCB aims to create a collection of multimedia contents and materials that will reflect how young people see their future cities and how they intend to make a positive change in the world based on the NEB approach and what they learned during the project engaging actively with one another and dealing with real-life complex challenges. As final deliverables a 30 minutes long video documentary will be produced (GDPR compliance guarantee). The documentary will be screened and premiered online, during the E2. Other supporting contents created are 4podcasts. The contents produced will be a good way of introducing the tool and the associated methodology, giving a complete account of the whole process and therefore complementing the cookbook and the inclusive guide in a language easily understood by young people. PR 3 – Inclusive Guide on Participation in a City created by CIKE will serve as a reflection of the project partners' learnings while working with different types of youth on city co-creation in the NEB approach. The result will reflect situations and learnings of the LTTAs, experiences in context of the partners' cities where the project participants will meet different challenges. The result will provide insights on the project activities and the challenges brought up, their ad-hoc and/or prepared solutions as it will provide evaluation on those decisions. The project aims to use the innovative approaches to teach and empower young people to formulate and present their opinions about the use of public space in the city in the spirit of the NEB. It is reached via the proposed project results as PR1 proposes theoretical knowledge on NEBI and enhances their vocabulary, it provides a guide on how to translate a physical space into a 3D model in Minecraft Education, hence provides them with the digital skills and visual stimulus of the possible results. The PR2 supports the advocacy of youth's needs in the cities- empowering young people to stand behind their futures. The PR3, on the other hand, teaches the organisations and cities to be inclusive and invite different types of groups into decision-making processes. It provides reflection on the project inclusive activities as well as suggestions to the alike organisations or cities’ municipalities to take the good examples and learning of the project partners to build on their experience and to create beautiful, sustainable and inclusive cities.
