The objectives of the project involve innovating the non-formal education of youth workers, improving competences of youth workers in implementing professional principles in their practice with youth with fewer opportunities and improving the quality of youth work practice with youth with fewer opportunities. The project is set up by the team of professionals from humanistic sciences from Serbia and Denmark with the cooperation of the National association of practitioners of youth work. Through out the project, experts and youth workers from the consortium will meet on the Kick-off meeting (6 total participants), after which they will exchange their experiences and discuss about the youth work practice and professional principles on a short-term joint staff training (12 total participants). The central activity of the project is the creation of a training module, based on applied drama training session as its main learning methodology. The training module will provide the youth workers with learning sessions that cover a variety of important professional principles and situations in which the principles can be implemented and tested in practice during the training. By using applied drama learning methodology youth workers will use an experiential, dynamic and flexible process in enhancing their professional competences. Through the second short-term joint staff training, 12 members of the project team will test the training scenarios in practice and assure that they are applicable and lead to the planned effects. After the finalization of the Intellectual Output, two multiplier events will be realized – a conference in Serbia and Denmark on which the training module will be presented to 100 trainers, youth workers, CSOs and experts and its future use in the education of youth workers will be discussed. After the multiplier events and the implementation of the dissemination strategy, the project team will meet for the purposes of the evaluation of the project. With the realization of the project, the created training module will provide youth workers with a quality space for improvement of their professional competences which will bring to better practice of youth workers with youth with fewer opportunities. With more quality practice we will reach the long-term goal of improving the quality of youth work and will also nurture the trust of other supporting professions towards youth workers. The project aims to explore the virtual space as a space for learning within the youth work context. The idea here is to optimize the experience lived by young people online during a learning process that includes diverse and multicultural groups. The project assumes that virtual learning is a resourceful concept that needs to be activated fully in the next few years. Learning in an online course is not much different than learning during a virtual youth exchange. It requires active participation, self-expression and openness to learn from others. For that the project will analyze both settings (virtual exchanges and e-learning) and collect data on learning trajectories from young people to conduct a full research based on theory of E-learning and youth work practice. Another common dominator between both settings is the use of ICT (Information and communication technology) tools. When providing young people with an opportunity to participate in a virtual youth exchange, youth workers activate young people’s knowledge about ICT tools. That opens access to young people to become more ICT oriented and empower them to use it in other learning settings. The project has 7 main activities as described separately below:1) Kick-off Meeting / APV: A meeting to formally start the project. It is an opportunity for all project team members to meet and get to know each other well. 2) Meta youth exchange: The approach is to consult young people and stimulate their creativity and critical thinking on the topic of E-learning and virtual exchanges. Participants will reflect on the process of learning within a multicultural group.3) Virtual Youth Exchange (VYE) The exchange will take a non formal educational approach through exchanging perspectives, debating controversies and challenging realities about global youth empowerment, global education and its role in peace building. 4) Preparation Meeting / Mid Project Evaluation: First Content development for the coming staff training. Trainers and project team will meet to finalize the content of the training as the previous 2 events along with the research draft outputs will fine tune the training content.5) Staff Training course: This activity is a capacity building for youth workers on ICT tools and the needs of young people regarding E learning experiences (including Virtual exchanges). The training will present the potential of using virtual space for learning in youth work. 6) Evaluation / Dissemination Event: Project team will have time to reflect and evaluate the outcomes of the project, the partnership and the sustainability of results. 7) ResearchThis is an extended activity throughout the entire project timeline. It aims to produce the intellectual output of the project which is a publication on facilitating a virtual learning experience in youth work context.
