This set against a background of economic recession, persistent unemployment and a shrinking job market. The context for Be Your Own Boss is that job creation, and entrepreneurialism, are proven ways for peripheral communities to develop their own futures and grow local economies – yet they are rarely given access to the tools and support, such as business incubation, which is necessary to allow this to happen.BYOB aims to transfer and adapt a successful methodology of raising entrepreneurial skills and job creation to new socio-cultural and linguistic contexts across Europe. The objectives are to give adult educators, and therefore learners, access to a proven methodology, which is grounded in experience provided inside business incubators and supported by online learning materials. The results will be increased capacities of adult educators to develop entrepreneurial skills in learners and the actual creation of micro-businesses and jobs by the adult learners. The partnership brings together a private business, an international NGO, national incubators, and those experienced in adult education from 6 different countries with a broad geographical scope. The profile of those the project will work with are adult educators, adult learners and business incubators who work in, and alongside, peripheral individuals and communities. These groups could be peripheral for any reason such as geographical, economical, social, etc. The aim is to work alongside these groups to create 30 new businesses, and therefore jobs, by the end of the pilot. The partnership activities will include creating a detailed state of the art review of entrepreneurial support for adults and those in peripheral regions, the creation of handbooks for adult educators and business incubators to engage with these individuals, 30 e-tutorials for those both using and experiencing the methodology, a pilot in 3 different countries of the methodology and a website where the project experiences and created tools will be available in all partner languages. Alongside this there will be a detailed dissemination and exploitation plan, a monitoring and evaluation plan, a quality assurance plan and a set of 5 transnational meetings between partners which will include multiplier events in the forms of conferences, seminars or press events. The methodology to be used in carrying out the project is an open approach to project management and participation where each partner has the lead on a different activity under the ultimate control of the project leader. There will be monthly skype meetings between the project lead and each partner and technology such as skype and dropbox will be used to allow all partners to access necessary documents and pro formas. The results of the project will be a flexible model and methodology of job creation and entrepreneurial teaching for adults. It is a programme which will be supported by downloadable tools and resources. The result of the pilot will be 30 peripheral adult learners who have been supported to set up their own micro-businesses in their regions and the jobs which result from this. There will be a replicable and robust teaching model for the adult educators which has been disseminated at local, regional, national and international level. This will result in an impact at policy level.

At that time, more than 1 Million migrants came to Europe seeking for home, shelter and help. The more people arrived, the more help had to be organised and the number of volunteers working in the field of migration rose sharply. Citizens of European countries were and still are willing to help with time, dedication and financial resources. As these people are a keystone in the necessary process of integration in order to minimise isolation from receiving communities and to provide opportunities to refugees and asylum seekers to develop their human potential and skills, the project CaseWORK aims at providing them with information, knowledge and emotional support. Supporting and qualifying volunteers and enabling them to do their demanding work competently and successfully is central for the long term integration of refugees and asylum seekers. Volunteers are highly motivated and committed, but they need information, advice, support and help for developing the necessary skills. It is also essential to be aware of the challenges, limitations and potential (emotional) frustration in the support process. In order to support the target group in the most effective way possible, CaseWORK developed an innovative online learning environment, providing necessary information, helping volunteers to develop transversal skills such as intercultural communication competences and preparing them for the very emotional task of supporting people that have been affected by a crisis situation and seek for protection. The main output of CaseWORK is a flexible online training seminar, presented in a user-friendly online learning environment that comprises three main topical areas: 1. Information: the main aim is to enable the volunteers to accelerate and to facilitate the asylum procedure and thus to prepare newcomers for a successful long-term integration. 2. Intercultural Competence: aims at providing volunteer helpers with the necessary sensitivity and awareness for their work with people from different cultural backgrounds. They get enabled to act as mediators between different cultures, understanding the cultural background, thinking and acting patterns of the refugees and to carefully introduce them to the cultural standards of Europe and the single receiving countries. 3. Psychological support: challenges and pitfalls of volunteer work are introduced and discussed in the scope of human and social psychology tradition. Volunteers get enabled to reflect their motives and individual limits and to cope with emotionally demanding situations. CaseWORK is based upon innovative pedagogical approaches such as learner-centred education, flexible and distance learning and learning with multimedia elements. The project combines those approaches with motivating technologies that enable learners to find content and orientation adapted to their individual needs. The impact on the participants and further beneficiaries was:Participating volunteers received all necessary information on asylum procedures on European, national and regional level. The participants were trained to develop their intercultural competences, to get aware of intercultural differences and to integrate their competences in their work routine. Coping strategies and psychological competences were of positive impact for the volunteers, but also for the refugees and asylum seekers who got supported by individuals who developed emotional strengths and strategies to handle demanding situations. This overall goal as well as all other activities of the project were centered on five main intellectual outputs, namely 1) Publication: Situation and Needs of Volunteers working with Refugees across Europe 2) Content of Online Course 3) Innovative Learning Environment Platform 4) Set of Multimedia Elements 5) Implementation GuidelinesIn the project and until this day, 322 volunteers registered for the training seminar and the website is still counting registrations every day. The vast majority of users is located in Germany. In addition to that, round about 100 organizations and stakeholders in the field of migration were reached through multiplier events and several thousand people were informed about CaseWORK through presentations on relevant national and international events and conferences, through newsletters and information spread via social media and platforms such as EPALE.The project’s dissemination and exploitation strategies were part of an overall valorisation process with the objectives of further using the outputs after the project’s end, establishing the caseWORK learning environment and content as a standard training offer for volunteers working with refugees and asylum seekers, and transferring the results to similar contexts and target groups.

Existing interventions to prevent and address racism in schools are based on punishment, which is ineffective according to experimental and applied behavior analysis. Specifically:1. When intervention programs are implemented the racist behavior has already been established since the shaping of the behavior starts even before our birth.2. The measures taken against racist violence and racist discourse are not consistent and are not based on scientific laws of behavior. They are ""tricks"" which are employed randomly because we think that it is logical to work or because they have worked in other cases of undesired behaviors. The usefulness of our approach in overcoming these drawbacks is the fact that all kinds of behaviors can be explained, investigated, predicted and altered based on the same principles. 3. According to our approach punishment is partly the cause of racism and it might intensify it. Our approach is based on shaping desirable behavior by employing techniques which are based on the principle of reinforcement. The consortium consists of 6 partners from 4 countries (Greece, Italy, Portugal, Norway ) - 2 Universities (Panteion University, Greece, OSLOMET - STORBYUNIVERSITETET, Norway ), 1 public entity branch of the Greek Ministry of Education (Western Attica Administrative Office) and 3 NGO's (OXFAM ITALIA ONLUS, Italy, ACTION AID HELLAS ASTIKI MI KERDOSKOPIKI ETAIRIA, Greece, 4CHANGE COOPERATIVA CULTURAL E DE SOLIDARIEDADE SOCIAL CRL, Portugal).Partners were chosen based on their research and educational expertise in the field of behaviour analysis, inclusive education, violence prevention, specialized training and educational materials development with the aim to equip the team with the skills required to bring the project to fruitful completion. A mix of Universities, non-for-profit institutions, direct service recipient facilitates knowledge transfer making scientific applications readily available for use in the wider community. The project will involve 3 transnational meetings: the kick-off meeting, during the Mid Term Conference and during the Final Conference. These meetings will serve to coordinate work distributed among partners, monitor progress on assigned tasks, manage time and completion of targets according to agreed timeframe and plan ahead for the following stage of the project. An interim report will be produced by the Leader Organization in month 18.The results of the project which aims at the promotion of the enjoyment of interacting with people from diverse background, through the employment of techniques based on scientific research and basic principles of behavior will be:• Results of desk and field research • Teacher training curriculum developed during the first months of the project • Students and parents training curriculum developed during the first months of the project • Materials developed to train teachers on behaviour analysis and inclusion and specific techniques• Materials developed to train parents and students by teachers on inclusion and videos used by teachers to train students and specific techniques• Results of teacher, parents and students training assessment • Assessment of the project • Website •Registry of trained teachers. Pre and post-assessment of teachers skills will be used to issue certification based on Europass criteria and create registry of certified teachers•e-book Training events for teachers (including 2 transnational training activities) , parents and students will also take place. All training events will take place at convenient places and times for participants (e.g., at schools during working hours or weekends). Attendance will be encouraged and monitored by keeping regular contact with enrolled teachers, parents and students. The training will provide opportunities for trainees to actively engage with contents and obtain hands-on experience, therefore will be presented with an interactive format.Direct beneficiaries of the project will be teachers, students and parents. Teachers and parents will benefit from receiving direct training on behaviour analysis which will allow them to respond effectively to a wide range of situations, create an inclusive school and community overall, develop solidary behaviours and prevent or reduce racist violent acts. This project will lead to the development of best practice in the fields of inclusive education informed by the science of behaviour analysis. Gained expertise will have a direct impact on policies and strategies adopted for the prevention of racist violence and promotion of inclusive education."
