Deaf Interpreters are typically used as relay interpreters to interpret for consumers with special linguistic needs, or as interpreters between two signed languages or between one sign language and international signs. The need for deaf interpreters is growing, but the provision of training and education specifically designed for deaf interpreters have not kept pace with the growing demand. In recent years only a few deaf Interpreter training programs have been set up in Europe, research into the area is scarce, and we still lack appropriate assessment tools for assessing the skills of deaf interpreters. ObjectivesThe main objective of the project was to enhance the quality, relevance and provision of deaf interpreter training. Not only the partners’ own training programs were expected to improve, as a result of this project, but the project was also (on a long term basis) aiming to influence training options in other educational Institutions in Europe. Access to a model curriculum, which has been produced by the project, is expected to encourage and inspire educators and educational institutions to initiate this kind of training and/or improve the quality of already existing training programs. The long term objective of the project was also to contribute to removing barriers at the labour market for deaf interpreters. Major obstacles for deaf interpreters are lack of official training options and lack of recognition of the profession. Giving (future) deaf interpreters access to high quality training and certification will go a long way towards recognition of the profession, but also the findings of the research are expected to contribute to a better understanding and definition of the specific competences of deaf interpreters. Number and profile of participating partnersWe were a cross sectorial partnership, consisting of five partners, representing Higher Educational Institutions undertaking deaf interpreter training, as well as national and European NGO’s in the field: Hamburg University, Coimbra Polytechnic Institute (IPC), HUMAK University of Applied Sciences, European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters (EFSLI), and Danish Deaf Association (DDA). Each partner has contributed to the project with their key staff members in this area of competence (primarily teachers and researchers within linguistics and sociology). Description of undertaken main activitiesThe partnership have in cooperation undertaken three intellectual outputs: a comprehensive European survey, 9 studies and articles into deaf interpreting, and recommendations for a curriculum. Thus we have produced an extensive survey of the situation of deaf interpreters in Europe, which deals with educational background, working conditions, organisation and recognition of the profession and covers the situation in 30 countries. Based on nine studies of the profession from various angles: primarily sociological and linguistic, nine articles have been produced, eight of which were published as a book and distributed during the project's conference in Hamburg. Furthermore partners have developed a set of joint recommendations for a deaf interpreter curriculum that is applicable at various levels of education throughout Europe. Finally we have produced a guide for educators training deaf interpreters. We have set up a project website and a facebook group and sent out regular newsletters to stakeholders. We have had 6 partner meetings and 2 multiplier events. We have undertaken 4 impact exploring surveys. Results and impact attainedThe primary results of the project, the 3 intellectual outputs, have all been accomplished, published, presented to a large audience, evaluated, and later translated and uploaded to the project website. Impact exploring among partner organisations shows that we as organisations have gained a lot from the project, so at this level, the project has attained the expected impact. The project has definitely also created awareness about the situation of deaf interpreting beyond partner organisations. The number of people from all over Europe to take an interest in the project has exceeded our expectations. The long term impact - to contribute to a positive development in other countries in Europe (primarily by influencing the quality, relevance and provision of deaf interpreter training) is yet to be seen. But as our impact exploring survey shows, testamonies from participants indicate that progress has taken place in 9 European (and 2 non European) countries within this period, and although the project can not take credit for all of it, the survey does show that the project was found relevant by syakeholders, and - at least in some countries - the project has contributed to creating more awareness of the situation.

On this basis, we intend to create the FIT2FIT campaign. This is a transnational project organised by IUNA in partnership with several organisations interested in promoting sport as a means for professional and personal growth and the civic participation of young people by means of training young university students to create social entrepreneurship projects. The title of the campaign is a pun on the word ""Fit"" which in English has two meanings ""Fit” as in keeping ""Fit"" and “fitting in”. Within this context it conveys 2 messages: 1) promotion of healthy lifestyle habits and, 2) the need for inclusion within society. It reminds us of the idea that through sport it is possible to “fit in” or include young people in society.Sport must be seen as much more than just physical activity. As non-formal education it can help young people to develop healthy lifestyles and also teach valuable life skills and help in the process of personal and professional development. This is particularly true for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. For these reasons the FIT2FIT campaign will be created. It offers 16 young people aged between 18 and 25 pedagogical training, professional preparation and education in leadership and business skills using the topic of inclusion through sport. At the end of the training, the young people will be integrated into a Group of Facilitators who will facilitate the construction of social and sports entrepreneurship which will be part of the FIT2FIT campaign. The facilitators will act as multipliers at 9 Portuguese, Italian and Croatian higher education institutions. The purpose of the organisation of 8 seminars is to train around 240 young volunteers who are invited to gain organisational and social entrepreneurship competencies which will lead to the implementation of at least 20 new educational and social sport projects aimed at 3000 young people at social risk.By promoting the multiplication and civic participation of young facilitators and young volunteers using a sustainable business model, we believe we are promoting the employment and inclusion of young people on the job market and at the same time, involving them in the resolution of social and educational issues via the use of the practice of inclusive sport for young people at social risk."

The consequences of such situations are even more severe for children (Fazel et al, 2012; Reed et al, 2012), and they include neurodevelopmental problems (Turley & Obrzut, 2012; Zaydeh et al, 2016). The effects and consequences of neurodevelopmental problems caused by the exposure to traumatic events, violence or malnourishment (Fasfous et al, 2013; Thabet et al, 2004) develop during childhood and adolescence and spread throughout life affecting academic performance, professional status and mental health during adulthood (Shonkoff, 2011, 2012). The largest number of refugees living in regions around Europe are located in the Middle East, specifically in Palestine and Jordan (Gonzalez-Ubeda, 2017). There are more than 2 million people living in refugee camps in Palestine. Moreover, 700,000 Syrians and 2 million Palestinian refugees are living in Jordan (almost 40% of the total population) (González-Úbeda, 2017). Nevertheless, professionals who provide care to refugee children (principally psychologists, social workers, and teachers) have limited or lacking training on neurodevelopment and its related problems. For these reasons, the main objective of this Project is to design and implement a higher diploma about neurodevelopment focused on refugee children for professionals who are involved in their care. This higher diploma will include units about brain and neuropsychological development, detection of neuropsychological problems, instruments for detection, etc. Objectives and sustainability will be achieved by means of qualifying academic staff on neurodevelopment as well as instructing them on becoming the future teachers of the diploma. Training will be supported by both online learning tools and personal training.

The idea of Strategic CSR has not been developed so far as regular course at partner universities and the companies, even if aware of the importance of CSR, hardly include it in their strategic plans. As a result of these two facts, the consortium decided to develop a new course on Strategic Corporates Social Responsibility that can be integrated with their study programs either as regular or elective course, depending on the program’s needs.PARTICIPANTS:The project is targeted at students and staff of the participating institutions as well as representatives of business environment and other social partners. 72 students and 28 teachers (including 4 external experts) will take part in the planned short-term mobilities, while the remaining beneficiaries will be able to use the project results: course curriculum, supporting teaching martial and the collection of case studies. The partner universities are active in different fields of study (business, humanities, law, engineering, health services etc.) and they function in different geographical, social and cultural contexts. In the programme, students will be working in multinational and multidisciplinary teams, so that their projects encompass different areas of knowledge and different economic and legal systems. ACTIVITIES:The following activities are planned in the project: 1. Developing a new course Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility and the supporting teaching materials;2. Organizing intensive programs for students in order to test the outputs;3. Collecting the case studies; supporting and promoting the most interesting student projects in the area SCSR.;4. Organizing multiplier conferences to disseminate the project's intellectual outputs; 5. The usual project tasks: organization of transnational meetings, general management, monitoring of activities and evaluation of results, promotion and dissemination activities. METHODOLOGY: All project activities and coherent and inter-related. The project work has been planned for 3 years, with main stages starting and ending with a partner meeting. During the preparation of this project proposal we have specified which institutions will be responsible for coordinating the individual activities, and we have established the communication channels between the partners. A strong emphasis is put on monitoring the progress of the project work, reporting and evaluation both at the project level, and in individual activities. The tasks include also promotion and dissemination activities to reach a wide target group and to ensure the sustainability of the project results. RESULTS AND IMPACT:All project activities and results correspond to the priorities of the Erasmus+ programmes and objectives of the Strategic Partnerships action. The project enhances social awareness and promotes constructive change in companies. It helps equip students with practical knowledge and skills needed to include the CSR in the strategic processes of companies. The attendance in intensive programs is also an opportunity for them to gain soft skills sought on the labour market.
