It achieves this by implementing a true grass-roots approach that includes teachers, schools and local environmental actors in a pilot action to overcome current hindrances and by documenting this approach in a BluePrint Guide to enable other EU regions to follow this example.<< Implementation >>The ""We are Blue Schools"" project is a grass-roots pilot project. Apart from management and dissemination activities, it will - conduct a research to find out from schools and teachers what stops them from becoming Blue Schools - organise a workshop to develop a strategy concept and initiate a Community of Practice- implement the findings and support a minimum of 100 schools in Mallorca to become Blue Schools- share its experience in a BluePrint Guide for transferability to other context.<< Results >>The main results of the ""We are Blue Schools"" project are:- a strategy concept based on the research phase to determine why schools do not join the Blue School network- 100 schools in Mallorca that sign up to be Blue Schools and integrate Ocean Literacy activities into their lessons- a Community of Practice- a BluePrint Guide for other regions and organisations to copy the activities of the project - a project Flyer (in English, Spanish and Catalan), a website and social media accounts."

It will gather and create Ocean Literacy (OL) and MSL resources for use by coastal and maritime tourism stakeholders and users to provide a better service and use of the Med<< Implementation >>The activities of the project will be:- Project management will be delivered through the term of the project,- Research activity, for gathering existing OL and MSL resources from around the Med,- Development activity to create new materials including the platform to show the project results and feature the resource on ArcGis Online, and- Implementation activity that will focus on disseminating the projects' results to maritime and coastal tourism stakeholders across the Mediterranean Sea.<< Results >>The main results will be to spread OL and MSL materials to coastal and maritime tourism stakeholders across the Med. For this, new materials will be created, existing resources will be gathered and made easily accessible, the MSL Brochure will be translated to other languages in non-European countries of the Med. Finally, all the project results will be disseminated to ensure that coastal tourism stakeholders can provide an informed, environmentally friendly, innovative, and educational service.

BlueLightS will work on four axes that are central to the project's legacy by: (1) significantly increasing the number of blue challenges implemented in schools as well as the number of accredited blue schools joining the european Blue school network; (2) in coherence with the inclusiveness principles of the EU Green Deal, contributing to the diversification of blue schools, including schools from inland territories, vocational schools, schools for children and youth with disabilities...; (3) contributing to enhancing the quality and ambition of blue education projects by applying open schooling and citizenship education principles that are key to (future) citizens' engagement into blue sustainability; (4) bringing the blue education concept and vision into the (national) education system of EU Member States, mobilising education stakeholders into the co-design and experimentation of a blue education framework, as well as the development of road maps for strengthening blue education . To deliver its ambitions, BlueLightS builds on: the development and facilitation of an active blue education community of practice; the application of a strong participatory philosophy; the establishment of synergies with both Mission Ocean and EU4Ocean coalition/Network of Blue Schools processes; the integration of the blue education concept into the activities, events and communication of "others" at different scales; the development of well targeted comunication, dissemination and exploitation activities; the priority given to activities implemented in 9 "experimentation" countries representing diverse blue education maturity levels, complemented by the sharing of experiences at the lighthouse scale and support to blue schools in all EU countries.

As a critical contribution to the science-based policy needed to preserve the Black Sea ecosystems, BRIDGE-BS proposes a multidisciplinary, multisectoral program building on regional and international initiatives. The project will develop predictive tools and capabilities necessary to understand and predict the impacts of climate-driven and anthropogenic multi-stressors on the services stemming from Black Sea ecosystems. These services and their responses to stressors will be mapped, monitored and modeled in order to identify a safe operating space within which a sustainable blue economy can flourish. To this end, BRIDGE-BS is structured around “three” interconnected nodes: Service Dynamics, Blue Growth Incubators and Empowered Citizens. Node1 will, using time series and new data, simulations and machine learning tools assess, predict and determine ecosystem resilience to deliver adaptive management tools. Node1 outputs will be used in Node2 to identify services that can support sustainable Blue Growth in the Black Sea by strengthening of resource management, developing and applying innovative technologies as well as supporting innovative start-ups and business models to create added value and jobs. Node3 will support policy uptake of BRIDGE-BS science and innovation results. It will train and strengthen collaborations between scientists and stakeholders, as well as policy makers, industry representatives and societal interest groups. It will educate, train and stimulate interactions between the public, future generations of marine scientists and entrepreneurs as well as motivate and engage policy-makers. Most importantly, through Node3 BRIDGE-BS will create a connected Black Sea community, strengthened by a new generation of researchers and innovators to address emerging Black Sea challenges.
