CENTRE FOR COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT CYPRUS,Petit Pas apsFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2018-2-IT03-KA205-014235Funder Contribution: 158,132 EURCONTEXTEarly leaving from education and training (ELET) is a serious issue in many EU countries and has attracted the attention of many researchers, policy-makers and educators. Although the situation varies between countries and the underlying reasons for leaving early differ from student to student, the process leading up to it has a number of common elements.According to the report of Eurycide and Cedefop, “Tackling Early Leaving from Education and Training in Europe: Strategies, Policies and Measures” (2014), one out of seven young Europeans leaves the education system presenting a lack of skills and qualifications necessary to prepare them for the labor market. Currently, more than 4 million young people in Europe are classified as early school leavers, only 40% of whom are employed. In the last two years, due to the pandemic, this problem has been emphasized, especially as regards Italy, one of the worst countries in Europe.Research shows that leaving education early leads to reduced opportunities in the labor market and an increased likelihood of unemployment, socio-economic disadvantage, health problems, as well as reduced participation in political, social, and cultural activities. On the other hand, abundant research indicates that a higher level ofn education can lead to a series of positive outcomes for the individual as well as for society. The benefits of young people staying longer in school are improved employment prospects, higher salaries, better health, less crime, improved social cohesion, lower public and social costs, and higher productivity and growth.Dealing with the underlying causes of early leaving and developing ways to overcome them has become a central issue in Europe.OBJECTIVESThe overall goal of motivatEyoUth is to develop a multi-intervention program for youth and youth workers and focus on the early school leaving phenomenon, to reduce the factors that create it and draw direct and indirect actions towards the target groups. MotivatEyoUth is based on two key pillars: Early School Leaving (ESL) Prevention and Intervention; through the project, prevention actions for youth prone to present high-risk behaviors was developed, as well as intervention measures and actions for youth classified as Early Leavers from Education and Training” (ELET), to prevent, remedy and reduce Early School Leaving. TARGET GROUPThe main target groups of the project have been young people between 14 -18 years old and youth 18-24, classified as Early Leavers from Education and Training & experts; teachers, educators, youth workers, trainers, social workers, healthcare professionals, coaches, social workers etc.It is estimated that more than 1200 youth and experts have been involved, directly and indirectly within the project activities, and around 90.000 have been achieved, through dissemination activities, during the three years of the project.ACTIVITIESFour main Intellectual Outputs are been designed and developed: O1: Experts Programme Toolkit O2: Online game “Journey to your Future” O3: ICT Tool for Competence Assessment O4: Online educational platform The project results are available in English, Italian, Greek, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish languages. They are developed in such a way and method so as to have the availability to be transferred and adjusted appropriately to other EU countries in the future.RESULTS AND IMPACT Youth involved in the project have been developing digital skills; they have been motivated and encouraged to continue on education and training through innovative material, tools, and activities; they have been developing their interest in Educational opportunities and other opportunities in entering the labor market Experts and other stakeholders have increased their awareness of ESL, the factors that create it, and the risks that derive from it; they have new educational tools and methods that will be applicable in their daily work and will support them in addressing the risks and issues raised by ESL/ELET (both for prevention as well as intervention purposes); they have been the development of their digital skills and opportunity to make better use of digital technology. Partner organizations have updated, improve & widen their educational and training offer, putting their competitiveness ahead; they have new tools that will be applicable to their daily work; they have exchanged know-how and define the best practices in the field of ESL/ELET so as to incorporate them into the project products; they have participated in an international network across diverse professional fields and gain expertise in a demanding and important field.

Partners have promoted, raised awareness and disseminated information on the importance of developing CHE competences for a better future. Involved youth had the possibility to increase their competence and received support for improving their situation on the labour market with the use of digital tools; this was also enabled through the close cooperation between public authorities, partners and the unemployed/youth. Trainers have increased their competences in delivering training to the youth with the use of new methodology; as well as extended their expertise on sectorial consultancy regarding effective intercultural education schemes supporting the professional activities of trainers with trainees. Moreover, the educators have increased their general knowledge on blended learning, as well as the practices, policies and education system of European countries. The policy-makers were addressed through the Policy paper (IO3), prepared by the University of TARTU emphasising the different ways in which youth can be involved in the CHE activities in the coming years.More than 300 youth have been reached in partner countries, through direct face-to-face, online workshop collaboration and the testing of the game and the mobile app. Further to the spreading of the Policy Paper by Tartu Uni, partners contacted local policy-makers and NGOs in their territory. Disseminated solutions were further used by partners to multiplying the audience effect.Partners have been involved in a variety of activities for the creation of conditions to promote social entrepreneurship education for youth. Developed have been results that focused on transversal but personalised approaches for the benefit of youth development. The approaches that were finally delivered have taken into consideration the peculiarities and differences in countries, to in the end have results for the benefit of a wider audience and not only for CHE. However, it is through CHE that the young participants have developed creativity, design thinking, leadership, social and digital skills to improve their situation on the labour market. Project results, to be used either in digital (game, app) or non-digital form (policy papers, guidelines) are relevant for developing competences in ECHE target groups.Partners have involved youth and youth workers into all stages of the project. Most of the young participants had limited opportunities – they were either unemployed (including refugees, asylum seekers and NEETs), living in remote areas or having economic obstacles. The participants were involved in development of project’s products, especially the game. They tested the APP and the game and provided feedback. They also participated in trainings (50 young people in 3 workshops in each partner country). In addition, two youth workers took part of LTTA in Tartu. Participants: had the opportunity of exchanging experience, increasing knowledge on CHE, receiving new tools, methods and resources for upskilling, but also enhancing digital competences, as well as raising awareness on cultural diversity, especially for tourism and creative industries contexts. Participating organisations: have exchanged valuable knowledge with the Consortium members, increased their expertise in relevance to CHE, but also developed the competences of staff for implementation of international projects and extended their capacities for delivering training for the purpose of distance learning, while increasing motivation in the youth.Other relevant stakeholders: have received new tools related to CHE, increased their intercultural awareness, as well as understanding of international educational, social and cultural systems, policies and practices, as well as reinforced interaction between practice and policy.

Activate, involve youth in solving environmental issues, which have harmful effects of human activities as the next generation will basically design our future and the future of a whole planet and empower Youth Workers to help counter the dramatic increase of unemployment situations among young people – with the mission to generate educational value, green employment horizons for long-term capacity building, from the dynamic interaction between these two groups. As stated by the European Commission, social innovation is not something you do to citizens but with citizens. As EU citizens, we all have a duty to protect and improve the environment because it means living better. Numerous aspects of our daily life are directly related to the environment: children's asthma, floods, traffic congestion, the dream of a clean beach, etc. The environment and climate change is priority for the protection of the environment. Youth must be aware of the negative impacts climate change (DG CLIMA, EIONETsdg13_50) has for individual and community health as they are the generation who will suffer the greater consequences (Arjen Wals), thus they must have more say in environmental decisions and policies. Turning the spotlight on the growing urgency of the climate crisis was highlighted by Fridays for Future movement that took off, leading to an increasing number of young people around the world to participate with this intention. Fighting climate change is ""the challenge that will define our generation, a political and moral obligation"": (President of EU Commission) continues to reiterate the centrality of the environment in the action of his Executive. Therefore green growth is at the heart of EU policy to ensure that Europe’s economic growth is environmentally sustainable. EU, in the last 30 years has multiplied its initiatives: policies, regulations, controls, anti-pollution interventions, research on environmental innovations, awareness actions etc. Youth will primly benefit from entrepreneurial learning. Whether or not they go on to create green businesses, social or other enterprises, young people who benefit from entrepreneurial learning, develop business knowledge, essential skills including digital, green and attitudes including creativity, initiative, tenacity, teamwork, understanding of risk and a sense of responsibility. This is the entrepreneurial mind-set that helps entrepreneurs transform ideas into action.EU 2020 strategy for growth aims to create ""smart, sustainable and inclusive growth"", and have set clear objectives to guide European environment policy until 2020 and a vision beyond that, of where to be by 2050: protect, conserve and enhance the EU’s natural capital, turn the EU into a resource-efficient, green, and competitive low-carbon economy; and safeguard EU citizens from environment-related pressures and risks to health and wellbeing.Furthermore, environmental protection and innovation help to create new business and employment opportunities, which stimulate further investment. UN Environment Program for the green economy translates into ""an improvement in human beings and social equity, significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities.Green startups represent the major driver of change, transformation of the global economy towards a more sustainable economic model. It is essential for young Europeans to understand the importance of active engagement in the protection of the environment, and that green business are an opportunity to find jobs and help make the world a better place.<< Objectives >>Becoming the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050 is the greatest challenge and opportunity of our times. To achieve this, the EU Commission presented the EU Green Deal, the most ambitious package of measures that should enable European citizens and businesses to benefit from the sustainable green transition. The project aims to improve global environmental standards, stresses the need to empower youth workers who will then empower youth in eco-friendly entrepreneurship, fast track to transition in the green economy not only to restore after the pandemic but to provide new opportunities to the younger generations, with more collaborative business models. Green startups find their natural outlet in different sectors.Among the most receptive areas to start green startups we find the sustainable tourism, cultural and creative industries, urban revitalisation based on heritage, important economic sub-sectors capable of generating employment, stimulating local development, and promoting creativity. The new generation will be trained on the potential growth in green alternative tourism, innovation in agriculture and food chains. However, there is an untapped potential to take a path that can create other green jobs. Green companies need qualified personnel in order to expand their markets who very often fail to meet their demand.Climate change is here but not everyone can feel the impact yet. Youth workers turn to digital technologies to help youth better “experience” it. With our Green Online Game, youth will feel the impact of climate change with well-explained illustrated ways in order to be mobilised to fight the climate crisis. Youth workers will be trained to empower youth with green skills, eco friendly entrepreneurship as crucial factors for the development of cohesive, healthy societies.OBJECTIVES- Define sustainable development approaches providing training panorama for green business, circularity and employment opportunities;- Develop and share tools to empower youth with key green, new media, digital skills applied in green economy and development of youth entrepreneurial spirit;- Train youth workers to develop their professional competencies and to provide youth, eco friendly start-ups with specific knowledge in fast tracking green economy, reducing environmental risks and promote social equity;- To promote European climate legislation, for a cleaner energy generation;- To create synergy among stakeholders to restore youth's financial health and build eco friendly initiatives.
