We believe that giving a second life to these areas, by developing economic and/or cultural activities, contributes to upgrade our territory by directly involving the inhabitants.Within the partner local communities, there are many abandoned public spaces, especially in popular neighborhoods. Restoring life to these places in the communities helps to improve the well-being of the inhabitants, to feel integrated into their community and to create new opportunities for the development of the territory. Our project is focused on the development of social enterprises that aim to combine economic efficiency and social impact in order to better exploit abandoned public spaces. In order to develop concrete methods for the involvement and effective engagement of citizens in the development of their community, we wish to develop this strategic partnership project involving 4 European partners from France, Romania, Italy and Greece. We will involve 5 participants per partner country, educators/facilitators and territorial agents from the local communities concerned who will be trained to actively contribute. They will mentor 40 adults beneficiaries, including some with fewer opportunities, in their training and in the setting up of local initiatives for entrepreneurship, by experimenting with the pedagogical tools created. Our objectives are to:- Enable adult educators and territorial staff from various European countries to exchange experiences and best practices, and to develop skills on how to mobilize the citizens of their communities in a process of positive change of the territory.- Develop innovative educational methods that encourage commitment to active citizenship and social entrepreneurship for the benefit of local communities by focusing on an efficient development of abandoned public spaces.- Raise awareness and mobilize local authorities and policy makers to increase their interaction with citizens and to involve them more in a participatory development process for the benefit of the community.- Elaborate innovative initiatives for the management, development and exploitation of abandoned public spaces, taken by partners and local actors at large-scale, as good practices for local, sustainable, participatory and inclusive development. To meet these objectives we wish to implement the following activities:1- A kick-off meeting in France to determine the roles, modalities and methods of implementation of the project.2- Preparation and launch of a research survey aimed at detecting abandoned public spaces and proposals from local citizens for the development and exploitation of these spaces in the communities of the partner countries.3- Training in Romania for 20 adults educators/facilitators and/or territorial agents to acquire technical and pedagogical skills to support a group of citizens for the development of certain abandoned areas.4- Creation of interactive E-tutorials videos to support and develop stakeholder inspiration when planning and developing public spaces.5- Creation of a technical & pedagogical guide, complementary to the videos, on methods to involve citizens in the organization and management of abandoned public spaces.6- Creation of interactive online trainings to support adults who want to invest as social entrepreneurs in the development and sustainable use of abandoned public spaces.7- Training in Italy for the same 20 participants to become E-tutors to accompany citizens wishing to invest in the sustainable exploitation of abandoned public spaces as social entrepreneurs.8- Mid-term evaluation meeting in Italy which will allow the partners to present the results obtained so far according to the set timetable and to adjust the monitoring and implementation methods if necessary.9- Taking local initiatives: development of abandoned areas in close cooperation with local authorities.10- Creation of a map that locates and gives a visual overview of the public spaces restored and the initiatives implemented by the beneficiaries of this project.11- Creation of a resource book that presents the process, results and impacts of public spaces that will have been developed. 12- Dissemination event to be organized by each partner at the local level to promote areas restored by the beneficiaries and to disseminate the results of the project.13- Evaluation meeting in Greece, which will end with a cooperation plan designed between partners to ensure the sustainability of the project.

Thus, this project will establish a coordination Alliance at European level and develop numerous networking and educational activities using a creative thinking and a scientific evidence-based approach. This will lead to broad, sustainable (environmental-responsible, social-inclusive & economically-balanced) and inclusive (gender, geodemographic and socioeconomic wide-ranging) STEAM education methodology that will positively influence in the transition towards a cultural and social cohesion of Europe. This EU interdisciplinary consortium will follow a multi-actor approach where cultural and creative industries (CCIs) are drivers of the cultural and creative-driven innovation ecosystems, combined with validation with 11-18 years old students, that will allow to better understand the gaps and limitations of STEM education regarding country, age, gender and other socio-cultural aspects and boost the change towards a sustainable, reproducible & inclusive European STE(A)M education. As a result, this CSA project will deliver a digital hub for participant networking (both students and stakeholders); missing information on STEAM level of implementation in Europe; numerous country-adapted training activities to boost integration of STEAM approaches in secondary and vocational training schools, with specific activities for young women and rural students; a pilot of the STEAM week at EU level and a roadmap for annual reproducibility; as well as follow-up training courses and guideline of minimum requirements for teachers and educational managers to ensure a STEAM education across Europe. It was a project for Capacity Building in the Field of Youth financed by the European Commission through the Executive Agency of the Erasmus+ Program. It lasted for 20 months between November 2015 and July 2017.The main aims of the project were to- Foster the cooperation of EU-Africa in the youth field, empowering the youth workers and it´s associations to tackle social and cultural issues under NFE methods. - Develop skills and competences in project management and NFE methods, through which the youth workers will improve the quality of social activities in their communities.- Empower youth associations, promote participation, active citizenship, inter-cultural dialogue and through campaigns, solidarity between partner countries, and- Develop new training methods and tools such as manuals and brochures which disseminate the project results and the new knowledge base gained among the 2 continents. The project was centred on various mobilities between Europe and Africa but the initial plan had to be changed because challenges arose in getting VISA approved for African citizens: The first mobility was a workshop for youth workers done in Portugal organized in the beginning of 2016. It was about project management, NFE and information communication technologies. The second set of meetings was done in parallel in June 2016. One was in Benin and one in Cabo Verde. It was organised to prepare for the European Voluntary Service (EVS) and the Job Shadowing mobilities. What followed was a 3 week long Job Shadowing implemented by a Romanian and a Portuguese youth worker in Benin in September 2016 focusing on strengthening partnerships.Another 3 week Long Job Shadowing was carried out by 2 Romanian youth workers in Benin in January 2016, for charity and capacity building. The most important mobilities were the 2 parallel EVSs:One was a 7 month long EVS project done by 4 Portuguese volunteers in Cabo Verde, starting September 2016 and ending in April 2017. There the volunteers collaborated with schools and youth institutions and offered NFE to kids and youth with fewer opportunities. They also organized countless free time alternatives mainly with cultural, environmental and ecological activities for at risk youth. In parallel with this there was a 6 month long EVS project done by 3 Romanian volunteers in Benin, starting September 2016 and ending in March 2017. There, two midwives helped in a clinic by assisting pregnant women, births and new-borns and advising the local staff. A social and youth worker was also on hand, offering NFE activities for teaching English and handicrafts to children born at the clinic. But mainly she worked with children and youth learning in the public and private kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools. All these mobilities were concluded by a follow up meeting done in Cabo Verde in April 2017.As a result of this project all 4 partners and their communities developed themselves in terms of project management and implementing social activities with a NFE approach. Also, connected to these topics a lot of know how has been transferred from European to African communities and vice versa. In terms of outreach we exceeded our original plans manifold, especially by entering into direct contact with, and helping more than 5000 children and youth with non-formal, environmental activities, awareness raising and with charity and fundraising initiatives. Another 10000 community members were reached across the two continents through dissemination events and the spreading of project results and tools.
