According to ILO, the pandemic is having a ""devastating&disproportionate"" impact on youth employment, while the most recent figures show that young people face major obstacles in continuing training&education, moving between jobs&entering the labor market. Before the pandemic, EU youth unemployment (15-24)was 14.9%. In April 2020, it rose to 15.7%. The EC's summer 2020 economic forecast predicts that the EU economy will shrink 8.3% in 2020, the deepest recession in the EU's history. According to the ""Financial literacy&Inclusive growth in the EU"" policy contribution among many other studies, financial literacy is key to ensure economic access, growth&empowerment. However, it is a field not always ensured especially among the youngest generation. Individuals below 25 years score lowest at OECD reports on financial literacy as well as lower-income groups, women&less-educated youngsters. This way this project is focused on strengthening the employability of young people by supporting them to acquire&develop competencies&skills on financial literacy aiming at palliating the effects of the COVID-19 crisis&fostering social&labor market inclusion&employability through an increased entrepreneurial spirit& mindset. Is through the enhancement of these entrepreneurial competencies that young people are expected to better contribute to tackling challenges&identified problems in their daily lives ensuring a proactive mindset that helps their access to the labor market well as prepared employees or self-employedIn this context of supporting young people's development of competencies&skills, additional financial literacy should be provided to youth organizations. According to the study ""Sharpening financial education"" performed by VISA&JA Europe, while, on average 83% of the survey respondents believe that the non-formal education sector is the right setting to equipping young people with the needed financial skills as well as the right sector to provide the necessary financial skills for becoming an entrepreneur. However&despite acknowledging the need for better financial education as an empowering youth tool, youth workers do not feel necessarily equipped with the financial competencies&the innovative teaching non-formal methodologies to successfully reach&empower youngsters in the field. This way the project is aiming to contribute to the quality&innovation of the youth sector by developing tools&providing training to develop the financial skills of youth workers. This will help the youth sector to increase its recognition as a valid&prepared sector to empower the employability of young people through financial literacy&entrepreneurial mindset&skillsFinally the project has a great focus on social inclusion. The OECD 2018 PISA report, highlighted how socio-economically advantaged students performed better in financial literacy than disadvantaged students&how up to 10%of performance differences in financial literacy could be explained by socioeconomic status. Giving young people the education&tools to better navigate the increasingly complex financial world is one of the preconditions to achieving inclusive growth. One of the5Europe, 2020 targets is “lift at least 20 million people out of poverty by 2020”.The headline indicator to measure progress is the rate of people at risk of poverty in each country.Findings suggest that countries performing better at financial literacy have lower shares of the population at risk of poverty. Actively investing in financial education&literacy programs might serve as one of the tools to reach the Europe 2020 targetsWith this aim, the project will be developing&testing non-formal innovative methodologies&activities oriented to disadvantaged youth groups as final beneficiaries to catch up with financial technologies&promoting inclusive growth&employment through financial literacy<< Objectives >>Covid-19 is leading and could keep leading to the emergence of a ""lockdown generation"", as the crisis hits young people’s job prospects. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), the pandemic is having a ""devastating and disproportionate"" impact on youth employment, while the most recent figures show that young people face major obstacles in continuing training and education, moving between jobs, and entering the labor market. To help to palliate this issue, financial literacy is key to ensure economic access, growth, and empowerment. However, it is a field not always ensured especially among the youngest generation, and despite acknowledging the need for better financial education as an empowering youth tool, youth workers do not feel necessarily equipped with the financial competencies and the innovative teaching non-formal methodologies to successfully reach and empower youngsters in the field.YouthProAktiv is an informal coalition collecting the views&needs of more than 42 youth organizations representing 23 EU&non-EU countries.
