Open Access Mandate for Publications assignment_turned_in Project2017 - 2020Partners:UMCSUMCSFunder: European Commission Project Code: 699794Overall Budget: 245,362 EURFunder Contribution: 245,362 EURThe primary goal of this study is to use the state-of-the-art methods to study the changes of engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) during water and wastewater treatment and to evaluate how these changes will affect ENMs fate, toxicity and interaction with other contaminants. It is assumed that the major part of ENMs gets into the environment with wastewater. It is interesting though to study how different conditions of water and wastewater treatment will affect ENMs properties. It is very important because of the changes in the physicochemical properties of ENMs caused by these processes may affect the mobility, toxicity and bioaccumulation of ENMs. Moreover, interaction between ENMs and other contaminants may affect their fate in the environment. These results may completely change our approach related to environmental risks associated with ENMs. In addition, the results may open a new area of research focused on realistic scenario. The achievement of these goals requires an inter- and multidisciplinary approach including environmental nanotechnology and chemistry, ecotoxicology, physics, material chemistry and engineering. These goals will be achieved through the implementation of research in one of the most advanced environmental nanotechnology lab in the world. During the outgoing phase I will be trained in new and powerful research techniques from laboratory experiments, physical and chemical analysis and field mesocosm experiment. During the return phase both groups will establish a collaboration, share theoretical and experimental expertise, and possibly initiate a long-term student exchange program. Beside of resolving very important environmental scientific issue, this fellowship will give me the opportunity to work with experts, will create a network of international collaborators, and will co-lead a 3-year long project with increased responsibilities in its conception, design, implementation, administration, and dissemination.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.euassignment_turned_in ProjectPartners:UNIME, UMCS, University of OviedoUNIME,UMCS,University of OviedoFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2020-1-PL01-KA226-HE-096059Funder Contribution: 275,949 EUROIR is an international project whose originator and leader is the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (Poland). The consortium also includes the University of Italy (Università degli Studi di Messina) and the University of Oviedo (Universidad de Oviedo, Facultad de Formación del Profesorado y Educación, Spain). The project is a response to the problems of some academic lecturers in the field of remote education which were diagnosed during the period of increased intensity of remote activities caused by the COVID-19. The problems result largely from the lack of appropriate competences in:•handling digital technologies,•the ability to work with digital services and resources•indivudual and teamwork in a remote model•creating materials and course scenarios in a different methodology. The project aims to develop innovative digital educational resources and provides an opportunity to meet educational challenges by enabling the inclusion of higher education for people with different and special needs. The assumption of the activities is to counteract the educational exclusion of all those groups of learners who, due to the transition to distance learning and the problems that often result from it (related to the inadequacy of forms and methods of work to their special needs) have limited access to education at the highest quality level. The aim of the OIR project is to strengthen the ability of universities to provide high-quality digital education favourable to social inclusion, and in particular to improve the forms and methods of educating future teachers (including those with special educational needs or belonging to other educationally disadvantaged groups). It can be done by creating an open online space of specialized digital educational resources such as: online lectures, podcasts, educational materials, didactic videos, lesson plans, worksheets, exercises, tasks) adapted to the needs of learners with various special educational needs (SEN) in accordance with the principles of universal design for education (UDL).Project participants will be 138 lecturers-academic teachers, 1 200 students and 60 school teachers. The project assumes conducting trainings on: I. the use of digital resources in distance learning, II. developing remote learning skills with the use of innovative educational resources and activating methods, III. universal design in distance learning.During the project implementation, the following project results will be developed:1. Open digital educational resources adapted to the needs of learners with various special educational needs in accordance with the principles of universal design for education;2. Training programs and training materials for lecturers, school teachers and future teachers concerning:•raising competences related to the use of communication and information technologies in remote education,•universal design,•educational resources used in activating working methods;3. Didactic films tailored to the needs of various groups of students;4. Cultural guides. The project will have an impact mainly for the local, but also for regional, national and European community. The materials worked out in the project such as: innovative digital educational resources (online lectures, podcasts, educational materials, didactic videos, lesson plans, worksheets, exercises, tasks) will be widely available, so they can be used by domestic and foreign entities. In the long-term perspective the project will become a strong impulse for the continuous improvement of the quality of distance and hybrid education and for the development of pedagogical digital competences of academic teachers, school teachers and students of teaching faculties.

Within this overall objective, REINITIALISE also aims to increase the capacity to attract and successfully manage EU funds at UMCS, and to involve, train and mentor Early-Stage Researchers (ESRs). The twinning exercise carried out by REINITIALISE defines and implements a scientific strategy and a process of knowledge transfer which leverages on excellence of KUL (BE), UNIMC (IT), and EUC (IT), as well as on complementarities and synergies among Smart Specialization Strategies of the 3 regions involved. To achieve these goals, REINITIALISE puts together a comprehensive plan of collaborative activities, characterized by: - attention to reinforce the strategic thinking capacities of UMCS; - a highly interdisciplinary approach, supported by the integration between social sciences and humanities and technology; - a constant and active involvement of different stakeholders and the business community; - an ad hoc training and mentoring for ESRs; - an ad hoc training on EU project design and management of EU funds. The plan of collaborative activities includes: staff exchanges for senior researchers and ESRs, academic symposiums, job shadowing and cross functional mentoring, showcase events, lunch & learn events, summer and winter schools, Venture Lab. With regard to the Work Programme, REINITIALISE contributes to the reduction of internal disparities in the EU in terms of R&I performances, by focusing on UMCS and leading it towards a pathway of excellence. Also the Lubelskie region, where UMCS is based, will benefit from the project especially in terms of opportunities for socio-economic growth.
