ESSENTIAL seeks to develop security science by addressing two of its main problems: the ad-hoc approach to security research and the growing complexity of the security environment. To do so, ESSENTIAL has set itself two main goals: a) to train inter-disciplinary security experts and professionals, to tackle security threats in a systematic manner and b) to increase societal resilience and security by addressing in an interdisciplinary manner 15 research topics, each associated with long-standing problems in the field of security science ranging from modeling security perception and democratizing intelligence to improving security and privacy in data ecosystems. ESSENTIAL will be the first programme of its kind that aims to jointly educate the next generation of interdisciplinary experts in security science, by uniquely exposing the 15 ESRs to: (1) theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in such areas as: (a) the policing and regulation of information-security technology, and (b) the implementation of policies and legal standards within computing and communication systems; (2) real-world environments in law enforcement, intelligence and industry; (3) strong academic guidance offered by highly qualified supervisors and mentors; (4) high tech research infrastructures; and (5) a diversity of interdisciplinary research events, such as workshops, conferences, summer/winter schools. The ESSENTIAL consortium is built upon long-lasting cooperation relations among leading organizations coming from academia, international and national stakeholders and the private sector, many of whom have over 25 years of experience in contributing directly to national, European and UN technology-related policy making.

Interdisciplinary Dialogue (ID) offers its participants a method to become more competent in their sector, with a strong focus on its multiple skills developed through an inter-university interdisciplinary mechanism of cooperation. The project aims to exploit the multidisciplinary nature of theatre to develop a new methodological approach for the theatre and for the higher-education system; with a strong emphasis on the importance of cooperation in further education. With the use of research-based learning, participants will benefit from a culturally and artistically diverse learning environment, which will enhance their transversal, intercultural, reflective and communication skills. The pandemic helped confirm our vision that teaching a single discipline in art schools is the old-fashioned way. Long before the pandemic, applicant organisation ETFI began to conduct a courses: * musician- actor, * singer-designer, * actor-psychologist, * director-3d artist, * technologist-writer, * linguist-performer. When the pandemic began, theaters, concert halls and cultural centers closed, our students showed greater resilience and ingenuity, openness to new media, to the use of the Internet, and to the use of new skills acquired with ETFI, instead of complaints and protests. That is why, within the framework of our project, we want to create a consortium of universities ready to integrate even more unexpected, but necessary, practical, vital and simply interesting combinations of disciplines. This, of course, does not replace a deep knowledge of the main profession, but broadens the student's horizons, helps him/her to be more ready to enter the changing labor market and to be a more stable and adaptable employee/freelancer. Why is this project so important to us? Feeling that the role of the theater is seriously underestimated, our project focuses particularly on its multidisciplinary nature and we want to forge new professions and new mechanisms to exchange skills with each other. The expansion of international contacts in education has shown that a deeper understanding of the mentality, lifestyle and moral values of representatives of another linguosocium is necessary if we want cooperation to be effective for our target groups (students and teachers of HEIs). First of all, this means the development of such personality traits as openness, tolerance and willingness to communicate with others.<< Objectives >>To respond to the global changes associated with the technological revolution of the last decade, new professional figures able to create, manage and innovate in the theatre are needed. The Interdisciplinary Dialogue project will offer knowledge and instruments to make HEI Learners critically reflect, and enable them to rethink their role in modern theatre. Interdisciplinary Dialogue aims at providing key competences and skills through which to: • Form multi-specialist of the future able to learn emotional balance when faced with stressful situations up to the loss of work and the disappearance of your profession as such • Intensify the use in High Education Institution of the ICT enriched learning method and peer to peer exchange • Implement university-business cooperation • Implement a trans-disciplinary approach with the use of computer technology, environmentally healthy materials, combining innovations in drama, dance, stage design to create more complex and contemporary theatre • create educational material to disseminate ID methods and their goals via Interdisciplinary Dialogue HEI students can fully participate in international cooperation and learn new skills, as well as take part in the creation of a learning model at the international level. Thus, an ID project can be a great platform to carry out innovations on a larger scale, in development of both aspects: Interdisciplinary experiment and multicultural interlingual cooperation. This will provide an opportunity to develop a module with a larger number of different cultures, languages and disciplines, which are represented by the partners of the consortium. The thematic area of interdisciplinary education is vast and characterized by a broad variety of manifestations and models. This diversity is rich in itself but for the individual organisations and practitioners in the field it still offers limited guidance to all the possible approaches, methods and discussion. That’s why the idea of forming the Interdisciplinary Dialogue as a platform uniting multiple approaches in one emerged.<< Implementation >>-Conducting 4 Learning, Teaching, Training Activities (C1-4) as a result of which the practical principles of the ID methodology will be formed and tested. - Creating ID STUDY GUIDE brochure development, with a comprehensive presentation of the cornerstones of the methodology, exercises, illustrations and articles by experts of the consortium, students’ testimonials. - Making a Video Tutorial to be a visual, modern and interactive embodiment of ID STUDY GUIDE - Creating a web platform where ID STUDY GUIDE and ID Video Tutorial will be published to be accessible, and become a source of knowledge and inspiration for a wider public. A platform operating as a place to exchange methods, ideas and skills between partners and ID participants. - Developing a strong team of like-minded people committed to continue cooperation at the end of the project - Holding a Multiplier Event for large academic audience in Brussels After the project completion possible scenario of cooperation between partners would be an annual festival of ID methods open to partners and associative partners, with the aim of sharing each university’s innovations, showing educational performances and joining productions that could -improve ID principles -connecting new Disciplines -introducing environmentally friendly technologies and materials in the theatre -combining different cultures and languages in order to create an intercultural communicative model. This festival will also be aimed at connecting universities with the theatre market in Europe and with experts in the field of design and technology. At the final stage of the ID project we will build the installation (serving a decor for the final performance) from biodegradable tape, which will dissolve in water after the lifespan of the ID project without leaving a carbon footprint. By this action we will teach our students not only to be universal artists, but also to be responsible citizens of our planet.<< Results >>The results addressed in the project are:1. The ID Study Guide Guidance materials directed towards stakeholders in HEIs in the theatre and technology sectors. The Study Guide will be produced as a joint creative scientific work by an international team. It aims at identifying and disseminating the knowledge gained by various Theatre and Technology Design Institutions, partners of the ID consortium. It expands and enhances information given by the main theatre and art school programs and, as a result of its interactivity, it provides a quick assimilation of skills on how to parse a role and find real character motivation, build 3D and physical stage design and give strong physical embodiment to characters. It also provides online training. It will be available beyond the completion of the project as a manual for theatre education. 2. The ID Video TutorialVideo learning material suitable for HEIs but also as promo material for stakeholders. Its content will be collected during the Learning Teaching Training Activities (C1-4). The Tutorial will emphasize the concrete and direct connection of actors and technologists in this cooperation. It shows how this methodology can be used in a lot of other disciplines: Journalism, Psychology, Composition, Script-writing and many more. It aims to open up larger horizons for further cooperation in the same direction. Both Project results will be published on the ID web platform.ID Web Platform suitable for education and training in an HEI environment, is available beyond the completion of the project. Its content relates to interdisciplinary, academic and cross- sectoral approaches and methods in theatre education. It allows for the interlinking of specific local contexts with international perspectives through the development of new projects. It enables theatre professionals to exchange skills and approaches, create teams, exchange knowledge and connections online, practice new skills and much more. It will be published with a multi-screen chat to allow the possibility of organising online Learning, Teaching activities.International Dialogue is a sustainable course/curriculum for students, teachers and university staff to provide long-term cooperation and continuous dialogue and development. The course/curriculum, consisting in 5 ECTS, will be developed and tested by all partners during the project lifetime and will be integrated into their educational offer and individual curricula at all partner organisations. Participants from associative partner organisations and non HEI participants will be awarded certificates of mastering the ID methodology.ID project is addressing the following target groups: BA and MA students, teachers and alumni of HEIs; independent freelance artists and cultural field professionals. On a broader scale, the project aims to forge new professions and new mechanisms to exchange skills between education and the professional environment.
