Recent developments in the Electric Vehicles (EV) technologies have made great strides to offer new modes of smart green urban mobility, where EVs are used as the main transportation mode replacing the conventional diesel and petrol powered vehicles. EVs are expected to play a key role in achieving ambitious targets of lowering greenhouse emission in the transportation sector. Given the EV penetration rates and future forecasts, it is essential to develop technologies that tackle charging management of EVs considering a holistic view of charging supply/delivery management for EVs, communication of EVs to the smart grid infrastructure system using 5G and beyond systems, smart grids and big data analytics for EVs optimise smart mobility and enhance the quality of experience for EV users. EVOLVE aims to exploit the scientific excellence and expertise of key academic and industrial players into a joint collaborative effort to design, develop and test various technologies that consider the holistic view of EV charging taking into account the view of technical and business stakeholders. EVOLVE will pursue innovation for advancing the technologies in EV charging ecosystem by orchestrating and managing the underlying networking and computational resources, design innovative algorithms using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning ML), developing communication protocols, prediction and optimising load in smart grids, developing software systems and user interfaces (UIs). EVOLVE aims to transcend analytical models and simulation-based validation and aims to deliver five proof-of-concept (PoC) demonstrations. EVOLVE project will provide a platform to foster a close collaboration between academia and industry partners providing each with a unique experience to create new knowledge, share know-how and skills development.

INFRALERT aims to develop an expert-based information system to support and automate linear asset infrastructure management from measurement to maintenance. This enfolds the collection, storage and analysis of inspection data, the deduction of interventions to keep the performance of the network in optimal condition, and the optimal planning of maintenance interventions. It will also assess new construction strategic decisions. The condition of the land transport infrastructure has a big societal and economic relevance, since constraints result in disruptions of service. The demand for surface transport will significantly increase in the next years. Given budget restrictions, a substantial enlargement of the road/rail network in the next decades is doubtful. Besides, the aging infrastructure will require more maintenance interventions which infer normal traffic operation. Therefore, the only way to increase infrastructure capacity for the increased transportation demand is to optimise the performance of the existing infrastructure. This issue is addressed by INFRALERT. INFRALERT will develop and deploy solutions that enhance the infrastructure performance and adapt its capacity to growing needs by: (i) ensuring the operability under traffic disruptions; (ii) keeping and increasing the availability by optimising operational maintenance interventions and assessing strategic long-term decisions on new construction; and (iii) ensuring service reliability and safety by minimising incidences and failures. INFRALERT will be directly applicable by Rail and Road Infrastructure Managers in the field of Intelligent Maintenance and long term strategic planning. Two real pilots (for roads and rail transport systems) will be used to validate and demonstrate the results of the research activities. In both cases, extensive data from auscultation campaigns are available since some years ago. The empirical development of the whole project will be based on these pilot cases.

EBENTO is aiming to develop an integrated platform for all actors involved in building and renovation sector to provide one-stop-shop to better coordinate and manage Energy Performance Contracting, bringing together the needs from all actors involved in enhancing the building stock. Through EBENTO, citizens will increase their implication in building energy efficiency enhancement, and both public institutions and energy communities will be able to identify potential energy efficiency improvements in residential housing stock, with SMEs and ESCOs support. Furthermore, with EBENTO platform, new business models for optimizing the financial (and, indirectly, other) resources available will be validated: • EBENTO will explore the best financing and collaboration schemes to set up energy services. • EBENTO will study how to enhance current Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) for Demand Side Mechanism (DSM) services and what kind of investment options (grants, loans…) can be implemented to increase the number and impact of energy efficiency projects in the city/region • By using digital tools, EBENTO will gather data from EPCs, financial schemes and energy savings to give to the citizens the required trust for investing in new solutions, and to companies the relevant information to reduce costs and easily replicate the work developed. EBENTO will ensure the exchange of relevant information between the different actors, making the renovation process cost-efficient and easy to operate and replicate. The platform will collect data related to performance contracts and guarantees, devices monitoring, energy savings, building information modelling, users’ opinions and comfort levels, among others.

PORTAL is pioneering an innovative, threat-agnostic framework to pre-empt cascading losses and establish resilience benchmarks with fit-for-purpose adaptation measures to proactively mitigate negative impacts on Port Infrastructure and interdependent Socio-eCOlogical systems (PISCO). PORTAL’s vision is important as ports handle 75% of the EU's trade, and face rising climate challenges, with $7.5 billion in global annual losses due to multi-hazard risks. In doing so, we deliver more resilient, inclusive and environmentally friendly PISCO. We do this through innovation, as we will deliver an interdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder inclusive, and scalable approach to optimise PISCO’s resilience and sustainability, with emphasis on people’s needs and environmental benefits. PORTAL integrates cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins and generative AI (GenAI) to enhance sustainable adaptation strategies. This is achieved through tailored designs of win-win solutions, e.g. Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), in inclusive and gamified PISCO. To achieve this vision, PORTAL includes a comprehensive training and capacity building programme embedded within its research, innovation, and dissemination activities. PORTAL leverages interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral secondments to enhance the skills of researchers and professionals through knowledge transfer. We facilitate decision-making to incentivise resilience strategies of PISCO operators, foster a safer environment and advance career development of participants, in line with EU policy goals for digital and green transition. PORTAL outputs include an advanced communication platform empowered by predictive tools, immersive training environments using augmented and virtual reality, and a library of actionable adaptation measures. These tools will empower diverse stakeholders identified through the empirical analysis of Socio-Ecological System (SES) to collaboratively improve environmental sustainability and strengthen resilience
