<< Background >>Partners made a research in their institutions and local communities in March 2021 ( 50 participants in IT, SERBIA, PL and FR) CATI and online survey, and the results showed firstly that all people (adults and seniors, adult educators) want to contribute to the sustainable development and they try to do at least something but the majority reported that they need a concrete knowledge and tools. The majority also did not know about the maning of a footprint but they reported the willingness tomake an impact and they want to exchange the knowledge and experience with partnership countries/localities.Both target groups needs are the same for communities, adult learners and partners’ staff. - they need support in distance and digital learning ( especially after pandemics)i- they want to be aware of their footprint and get the knowledge on how to improve our choices to contribute to better future, - they point out that they want to empowered and engaged in the green approach and SDGs - they need knowledge about good practices in partners’ countries - they want to understand the role of themselves in the transition to sustainable development to create a prosperous future for all- They need to develop a positive, critical, aware and couragous attitude towards the SDGs - they want to promote green solutions through educational partnership- they need a better understanding of the environmental challenges- need to contribute to circular economy Action PlanNeeds of partners organizations - to work and develop within senior education, - to contribute to distance learning, to develop materials for digital learning and make the online learning inclusive - to find a better way of engagement and motivation for seniors- to motivate trainers and teachers in partners’ organizations, -development of training materials and guidelines on how to teach– proffesional development of staff, - strong need to contribute to SDGs - a search for a new meaning of working/teaching – ageing population a must – have new direction for educationDifficulties _ needs of seniors - high motivation to learn and stay active, to be needed, to contribute to something bigger, - no skills and competences to participate in distance and digital learning - the pandemics moved them out of educ. system - seniors, fear of using distance learning - to communicate with adults from EU, from partner institution - to have a common ground with grand children, common area of interests – intergenerational - the future of our planetIn 2018, nearly one fifth (19 %) of the EU population was aged 65 and more. The share of people aged 80 years or more should more than double by 2100 to reach 14.6 % of the whole population. The population of the EU-28 on 1 January 2018 was estimated at 512.4 million. Older persons (aged 65 or over) had a 19.7 % share (an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared with the previous year and an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared with 10 years earlier).https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Population_structure_and_ageing#Past_and_future_population_ageing_trends_in_the_EUSeniors are well aware that learning can be started in any age. All studies confirm that brain exercise has a positive effect on our health, mind and longevity. People who do not stop learning enjoy better health, later experience the symptoms of cognitive impairment and find it easier for them lives. Poland ranks last in the statistics in terms of educational activity of seniors. (http://www.seniorzy.pl/index.php/felieton/30- ksztacenie-ustawicznepiczesiciolatkow)Adult learners ( seniors) require teaching methods and techniques different from those used with children or adolescents. They use different learning strategies, have different attitudes, goals, preferences and beliefs. In Poland and in France the group of older age people is growing. It is said, that in 2050 30 percent of population will be elder people.<< Objectives >>The world is facing a lot of problems and the Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries and people to promote prosperity whileprotecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection. More important than ever, the goals provide a critical framework for COVID-19 recovery. In 2018, nearly one fifth (19 %) of the EU population was aged 65 and more. The share of people aged 80 years or more should more than double by 2100 to reach 14.6 % of the whole population. The population of the EU-28 on 1 January 2018 was estimated at 512.4 million. Older persons (aged 65 or over) had a 19.7 % share (an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared with the previous year and an increase of 2.6 percentage points comparedwith 10 years earlier). https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Population_structure_and_ageing#Past_and_future_population_ageing_trends_in_the_EU While women have made important inroads into political office across the world, their representation in national parliaments at 23.7 per cent is still far from parity. Energy is the dominant contributor to climate change, accounting for around 60 per cent of total global greenhouse gas emissions. Of the one billion population of persons with disabilities, 80per cent live in developing countries The world’s cities occupy just 3 per cent of the Earth’s land, but account for 60-80 per cent of energy consumption and 75 per cent of carbon emissions. https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/ The goal of the project is to empower adults and seniors from local communities of the partners’ organizations to make a positive impact, to make a positive change in making better future for planet and people by exproration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. << Background >>Population ageing is one of the most important changes that our society is facing today. According to the World Health Organization (2020), it is predicted that there will be two billion people over 60 years by 2050. It is estimated that between 2000 and 2050 the number of people aged 80 and over will increase almost four times up to 395 million. Ageing is characterized by the decrease in physiological activity that leads older population to greater vulnerability. The physical and cognitive function of older people can be deteriorated causing situations of fragility, disability and dependence (Alonso et al., 2007 and Fried et al., 2003). The vulnerability that the ageing process entails has been aggravated during confinement. In addition, older people have been affected by greater social restrictions as they were the age group at greatest risk for the disease caused by SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19) due to comorbidity, geriatric syndromes and frailty associated with the ageing process (Wynants et al., 2020). These restrictions have affected their physical, cognitive and psychological health but also social restrictions’ measures in this group have been more severe in some countries in order to avoid the chances of contagion in this vulnerable group. However, due to the decrease in the social relationships caused by confinement, other pre-existing problems in the senior population, such as loneliness and social isolation, have been intensified. Separation from family and friends, and other social networks and the inability to participate in social activities, has affected those who already were in social isolation, as well as those who had not previously suffered (Brooke and Jackson, 2020 and Pinazo, 2020). Also the anti-COVID-19 measures have had an impact beyond social isolation. It has also led to a decrease in physical activity and an increase in depressive symptoms and in cognitive impairment (Gardner et al., 2020). On the other hand, the process of digitization of our society is increasing. This growing phenomenon can offer great opportunities to the older population. In the current situation, digital tools and mobile phones have been essential instruments that have provided various benefits during the pandemic situation, such as helping people to socialize in a time characterized by social distancing. In this situation, new technologies have been of great help to maintain people's social circles and friendships. However, it has been found that the use of new technologies is lower in older people, bringing a digital generational gap (Seifert, Cotton, & Xie, 2021). Even though new technologies can bring great opportunities to seniors, if it is approached from an active ageing perspective.<< Objectives >>The general objective of this project is to develop an e-tool with teaching activities that can promote social participation and healthy and active ageing in seniors. To this end, professionals working with older people will be trained to be active agents of change promoting active ageing, especially in its social dimension, through a digital tool designed for older people. In this sense, the project aims not only to improve professionals’ competences, but also to develop a digital tool that can help professionals to promote active ageing among seniors and to support them in the development of their digital skills and social participation. Under this general objective, this project aims to achieve the following specific objectives:•Develop an easy-to-use e-tool for seniors so that through the use of new technologies they can know how to be more active and participate more in their community.•Fostering the abilities of professionals through a co-created training program and e-tool that can help them to promote seniors’ social participation through new technologies.•Promoting active ageing, social and civic participation, and environmental sustainability principles in seniors in European societies •Enhancing and improving the use of new technologies in older people.<< Implementation >>The activities to be implemented will be the following ones:- To develop a co-created training course for professionals working with seniors based on the information provided by professionals and older people (a process based on user needs) to promote social participation and motivate seniors to use new technologies. In this regard a report on seniors’ needs and a co-created syllabus for the training contents will be needed. -To develop a set of activities by professionals working with seniors based on the training got to promote digital skills, active ageing, social and civic participation, and environmental sustainability principles in seniors. -To create an e-tool to promote active ageing which will be an essential tool for both professionals and seniors.<< Results >>The e-Active project is expected to have the following results: •Result 1 – Report on seniors needs, professional needs and best practices concerning the use of e-tools for seniors’ social and civic participation based on co-designed sessions carried out in R1. •Result 2 – Training course on senior social participation and digital skills for professionals working with seniors. •Result 3 – Development of a set of activities to promote digital skills, active ageing, social and civic participation, and environmental sustainability principles in seniors that can be done through an e-tool. •Result 4- Development of an easy to use e-tool that can be adapted to several levels of seniors’ digital skills.
