Reducing youth unemployment is one of the major challenges facing most governments in the world. Within the framework of potential efforts and strategies to boost employment and job creation for young people, entrepreneurship is increasingly accepted as an important means and a valuable additional strategy to create jobs and improve livelihoods and economic independence of young people. It is an innovative approach to integrating youth into today’s changing labor markets. Developing and encouraging youth entrepreneurship can:- Creating employment opportunities for self-employed youth as well as the other young people they employ;- Helping youth develop new skills and experiences that can then be applied to other challenges in life; - Promoting innovation and resilience in youth;- Capitalizing on the fact that young entrepreneurs may be particularly responsive to new economic opportunities and trends. How can we contribute to all this? We can educate young people to be better employees, but we should also invest in shaping their mindset, coupled with the skills and knowledge to be innovators and entrepreneurs. Developing the ability to recognize opportunity and giving young people the tools to capitalize on those opportunities empowers them to take ownership of their future in ways which directly link education to real-world success. The SSA team together with its partners created project, which had for aim to raise the capacities of organizations and youth workers to deliver better quality entrepreneurial education that tends to develop personal and professional skills and uptake knowledge in order to reduce youth unemployment through youth programs and projects using the produced materials and tools. We live in a world where the composition of women and man is almost in equal number, but looking at the presence in the media, women are heard about or read in approximately 23% of the world news. The world seen in the news media is largely male one with their presence in 76% of the time. This leaves the female part of our societies relatively invisible. Study from 2012 shows that “women’s voices were hardly visible in stories on politics, economics, energy, and sports – areas considered male domain. Instead, they were more present in stories connected with gender-based violence, child issues, health, beauty and life style, which are to be considered as a female domain. This clearly shows that media often portrays women merely as sex objects, victims of violence and of disasters. In the same time, women’s views are rarely solicited and when solicited they are presented as average citizens. On a general point of view, women are rarely seen as expert sources. According to research conducted by Global Media Monitoring Project conducted in 100 countries, 46% of the printed news, radio and TV uphold gender stereotypes and only 6% highlighting gender equality. Other report shows that only 16% of the media gave stories for women’s voices. This again portraits the world of experts/professional mainly as a “man’s world” and limiting the possibilities for the women’s angles and expert’s opinion to be heard and shape our world. We want to go beyond the reasons why media continues to report negatively about women and contribute to responsible reporting and journalism that a holistic turnaround of our countries can be achieved. Staying in the space where media continues to stereotype women through coverage, it can contribute to the perpetuation of unfair positioning of women in society, which is already fragile and still needs development. One of the things we need to so is change the negative portrayal of women in and by media, while reporting and journalism training should establish gender-sensitive units and curriculum. There is definitely a need to raise the standards of reporting and make them more gender sensitive and strengthen the human capacity of the NGO’s and their partnership with media in the partner countries. This is an important pillar in the process of enhancing democracy, good governance and human rights in our countries while promoting professionalism and editorial independence. There is a need to give media a particular priority because they have an enormous impact on society. It’s about time that now the media makes the future where gender equality is a reality on screen, on radio, in the newspapers, including in the social media. This is where we, youth and women, NGO’s and activists come on stage, as we are the ones working on the grassroots level and can approach both media and local people thus having a bigger and more visible impact. We will bring the local realities from each community and country into the common portal for reporting where beside the information shared on local level, will be shared with the rest of the local partner communities, so our women voices are heard and equality is becoming more promoted and inspired.

The underlying aim of the ySI4R project was to develop a practical instrument to turn the frustration of youth about indecisive leadership on climate change and other ecological and social challenges to the empowerment and enthusiasm for constructive change with active participation of young people in the society. Innovative and experiential youth worker education was seen as a leverage point for such change thus the project aimed to develop a training course of methods and tools integrating the best practice examples of youth-led transition actions. Throughout the two-year project the team of organisations working with youth education from seven European countries developed a large set of experiential activities serving that aim and collected into a course for youth workers, in a form of an open and joyful online toolbox based on gamified activities, storytelling and interactive workshops. The online toolbox, named Bridgedale360, equips youth workers with a diverse variety of engaging activities and storyfied knowledge which is flexible and can be combined into practical and experiential courses empowering youth for sustainable livelihood, resilient local solutions, leadership and active citizenship. The course serves in a way that it can be adapted to the context of a particular youth work. Bridgedale360 is available at www.bridgedale360.org and the information can be found at www.bridgedale360.info.The project aimed that 1 year after launching the platform, it will have 1000 users. Currently, 4 months after the official launch, Bridgedale360 has 800 registered users and dissemination activities are still in process. The ySI4R project brought together a diverse range of organisations from Sweden, Spain, Germany, Slovenia, Macedonia, Italy and the UK represented by community training centres, youth NGOs which work with marginalised youth, and national and international networks of sustainable communities with consultative status to the UN and the EU. In order to gather the diverse youth workers experiences from around Europe and combine them into a creative course, the project team, besides intense collaborative online work, led two international 5-day workshops, 2 week-long teaching mobilities, 6 long-term youth worker mobilities and three 4-days project meetings. The final product, the course, with its core translated to seven European languages, is a great open resource for youth workers around the continent to light up in young people the holistic comprehension of the sustainability and to engage youth in active and responsible citizenship.
