  • The Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Base of Knowledge contains information about ongoing scientific, research and implementation works, as well as publications, reports on research conducted with public funds, defended doctoral theses, teaching activities and completed diploma theses in first- and second-cycle studies. The system records information on the scientific achievements of employees, doctoral students and students, collected in accordance with the requirements specified for the evaluation of employees and scientific units. The Repository, which is an important part of the system, archives digitally the full texts of materials documenting the work being carried out, including: monographs, articles, book chapters and reports, as well as the texts of works constituting the basis for awarding scientific degrees and titles. Access to these works may be limited only by the conditions specified in contracts between authors and owners of economic rights to the work (publishers, institutions financing research). The principles of operation of the system are specified in Order No. 53/2022 of the Rector of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin of May 23, 2022 on the introduction of the Knowledge Base Regulations.

  • Paramecia are unicellular eukaryotes of large size (~ 120 micrometers for P aurelia species) that belong to the ciliate phylum. Ciliates, like the Last Eukaryotic Common Ancestor, have the axonemal structure in the form of vibrating cilia that assure locomotion and food capture and are essential for pairing of paramecia of opposite mating types during conjugation (sexual reproduction). Like multicellular eukaryotes, ciliates separate germinal and somatic functions, harbouring two different kinds of nuclei. A diploid germinal micronucleus transmits the genetic information to the next sexual generation, while a polyploid somatic macronucleus is responsible for gene expression. Reproducible DNA elimination, which occurs in many animal lineages, takes place in ciliates during sexual reproduction, when a new somatic macronucleus develops from a copy of the germline micronucleus. The somatic genomes of numerous Paramecium species are being sequenced and annotated. ParameciumDB integrates the genomes as they become available, to provide resources for functional and comparative genomics to the community. ParameciumDB interfaces and tools have been redesigned. Your feedback is welcome.

  • Fulgoromorpha Lists On the Web (FLOW) is an online database that aims to provide an easy-access summary of available biological published primary data on planthoppers (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha), a group of major economic importance. It includes information on taxonomy, nomenclature, bibliography, distribution and various associated biological information on host-plants and parasites (including fossils).
