Empowerment of Classical Music Professionals Through Enhanced Cooperation- ClassicalEM

Description

<< Background >>The project focuses on the revitalisation of the classical music sector and the creation of a network of musicians (in Romania and across the continent) that are oriented towards the development of new skills and competences in relation to demands and evolution on the market, as well as in connection with their own needs. The project develops instruments and produces results that foster the empowerment of professionals in the field of classical music. Professionals in the field of music need to enhance their competences and their networking capacity, with a focus on audience development. In order to preserve the relevance of their activity, these professionals need to develop new skills in a digital world with a more volatile public. The project is built on the needs of the musicians (collected through a survey conducted in late 2020 by the group of three partners: Trib Art (Romania), Jeuness Musicale (Hungary), Organization for European Programmes and Cultural Relations(Cyprus) and the associated partners in the project (Musica Ricercata-Romania, Flanders Arts Institute-Belgium, Classical Next-Belgium and Fundacio Epica La Fura dels Baus- Spain). The survey consisting in applying a questionnaire of 25 closed questions, aimed to identify the needs of the musicians. We have collected 134 responses and we were able through a quantitative analysis to crystallize a set of needs: more diverse professional opportunities and income streams, variety of artistic choices, connect with more people, personal and artistic development through digital competences, advocacy and entrepreneurialism, creative self expression, making a contribution and having an impact, health and wellbeing, equal opportunities.Participants will be encouraged to network and develop new ideas with their colleagues - both from their cities and from the other participating cities (during training courses, focus groups and testing activities).<< Objectives >>The project will focus on a set of objectives:1.To support 54 artists active in the field of classical music in Romania, Cyprus, Hungary, Belgium, Spain to increase their abilities and competences in the current context, through a set of instruments and activities organized in the project.2.To develop a network of communication and collaboration between 150 musicians and more than 20 public and private organizations active in the field of classical music, through digital instruments and meetings throughout the duration of the project.3.To foster social inclusion of a number 6 musicians from disadvantaged categories (with health conditions or unemployed), through the activities we conduct in this project.<< Implementation >>The total number of beneficiaries who will access these resources throughout the entire period of the project will be 5 000 musicians, cultural operators, other professionals în the sector, as well as professors and teachers in the vocational schools for classical music and of course participants of the public in audience development. 2. FOCUS GROUPS and participation of musicians, cultural operators and other professionals in the sector in the elaboration of the project results. The RESULTS derived from the focus groups are a better understanding of the needs of the music sector across the EU and offering grassroot solutions for a modern approach towards the revitalisation of the classical music performances and competences. 3. TRAINING COURSES (2) for musicians and cultural operators in the field of classical music -during these training courses (LTT- learning, teaching and training activities) musicians and other cultural operators will learn how to use the instruments we have developed in the project. They provide feedback and test the instruments in their day to day professional activities. The RESULTS of these training course are mostly qualitative- upskilled music teachers, who introduce in their teaching programme activities with increased relevance and betterconnection to modern education (technology based and creativity oriented)4. PEER LEARNING ACTIVITIES- sessions organized by each of the participating organizations (sharing experiences from the training sessions and from class)- beneficiaries 36 musicians and other cultural operators. The RESULTS we obtain: transfer of knowledge, interaction with peers and good dissemination of the project results5. TESTING activities- evidence-based work- each of the musicians and cultural operators participating in the project will hold for diaries throughout the project to express how the porject has influenced their professional activity, in which we will measure the level of impact of the deliverables- tested by 54 professionals in all 3 countries of the partnership. The RESULTS of the testing activities combined with the results of the training activities is a consolidated approach towards renewing competences for the classical music sector in the 3 countries in which the project is implemented, with the potential of expanding this result and the subsequent impact of the project (mainly through the associated partners in Romania, Belgium and at international level through the Classical Next conference).5. TRANSNATIONAL Project Meetings-We will organize 4 project meetings in the project, with 2 participants from each partnerRESULT : improved cooperation and solid management of the project3. 4 MULTIPLIER EVENTS presenting the results (sharing the results with the local, regional community and also interested parts from the host country and neighbouring countries)- a total of 130 participantsThe project will also have a relevant dissemination platform through the Classical Next conference which is the biggest European conference for the sector of classical music.<< Results >>1.All the project results we intend to develop are digitized and widely accessible to musicians and other professionals of the field, they can be accessed by whoever would be interested to use these new methodologies and instruments that will bring upscaling in the sector. Given the fact most of the activities and the contents have to be available online to be reachable, this project adapts to the new standards of modern times. Even more, given the effect of the pandemics, people will not be that prone to travel anymore, so it is wise to use online resources as much as possible.2.The project results focus on developing adapted competences for musicians and cultural operators - a modern and relevant music class has to use technology, but most musicians and cultural operators are not that familiar with technology, so the first IO will introduce them to online and digital resources to be used in their activity as well as to modern cultural management, PR and communication methods, production of events in the digital era.3.The project results are collaborative- they are developed in cooperation with associated partners and musicians and cultural operators from the countries of the partnership. The platform and the online publication as well as the assessment of audiences are activities in which we will include the 18 participants to the blended mobilities, the 36 musicians that participate in peer learning activities4.The activities make use of a new perspective on audience development through integration of digital solutions- the less and less engage audiences and also the reduced number of people who participate at classical music concert is one of the most problematic issue related to the sector. Digital solutions for audience development seem to be nowadays an appropriate option to tackle the remoteness of the public. 5.The activities foster inclusiveness- the project will include a number of 6 participants (2 from each country) that face two types of problems: musicians that are confronted with medical problems related to the music profession and musicians that have lost theri jobs because of the contraction of the sector. 6.The project promotes the value of environmental protection, through the use of less pluant means of transportation and through the use of recycled paper and materials in their day to day activities at the office.7.The project promotes collaboration between musicians and cultural operators through a collaborative platform and through peer learning activities. The platform will be an open resource space in which musicians and professionals willing to propose solutions and contents for competence development in the field of classical music could share their ideas, provide feedback and engage with the purpose of leveling up the field of music education and teaching. 8.Fostering cooperation between stakeholders in the field of music teaching and education. 9.Visibility of the project through constant communication with stakeholders and networks of partners and through weekly activity on the website and the Social Media Pages Quantitative results:-4 project results that will enrich the approach to the classical music sector-1000 questionnaires to which the audiences respond-3 dissemination activities and 130 participants in the activities-2 participations in the Classical Next Conference-2 LTT- training courses for 18 musicians and cultural operators who will test the project results in their activities in the classical music sector-36 peer-learning activities- each of the music teachers participating in the LTT will share knowledge and information with other 4 music teachers or other education practitioner interested in music teaching-48 website posts and 48 social media posts-12 meetings with associated partners throughout the project -either face to face or online.
