Intercultural competence is more important than ever. We need to break down cultural barriers and build awareness of cultural norms, to create people who have a tolerance for ambiguity and who can keep an open mind. But in order to have a project funded you also need a great project idea – and this we think we have found – sustainable living. The common core subjects in the LK06 Norwegian national curriculum will by 2020 be equipped with new core elements, and one of these will be sustainability. Sustainability can only be achieved through a collaboration between countries – it can never be seen as something isolated or something relevant for only one country. The objectives we would like to achieve and the concrete results we would like to produce can be summarized in the title of the project: “Sustainable Living – Active Citizens”. We would like the participants of the project to get knowledge of what sustainability is and in that way be able to live more sustainable lives, and we want them to get knowledge of what it entails to be an active citizen and by that become active citizens in their local communities. By looking at what you can do in your local environment to achieve sustainability, we hope the participants will be capable of making informed decisions that can help change the way they live their lives.Altogether, we are six partners, including Norway. These are Adam-Josef-Cüppers-Berufskolleg from Germany, Secondary Municipal School Taki Daskalo Bitola from Macedonia, OGEC Ensemble scolaire JEANNE D'ARC + SAINT JOSEPH from France, Muhoksen lukio from Finland, IISS Francesco De Sanctis Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi from Italy and Trysil videregaaende skole from Norway. A needs analysis helped us form this partnership consisting of countries which, on some level, had already implemented sustainability in their curricula, were in the process of implementing it, or who in other ways had integrated sustainability in their teaching or would like to do so. They all give different reasons for why being part of an Erasmus+ project like this is important. Both in France, Finland, Macedonia and Germany the topic of sustainability is already a part of the lessons, but what they need is to exchange ideas and help their students put into practice what are being taught in school. In Italy sustainability is not part of the national curriculum, nevertheless sustainable living has been put on the agenda by increased pollution levels, and they therefore see the need for their students to see what goes on in other countries, be influenced by this, and get the motivation to change things at home. In Norway sustainability will soon be part of the curriculum, but already it is a much used concept in many companies and institutions - the challenge is to convice the general public to make sustainability friendly choices. We have included a wide range of activities in the project. Before each LTT activity we have planned collaborative online activities where the students first do some sort of research in the homes or local communities before they compare results with partners from the other schools online. During the LTT activities we mainly focus on getting a grasp of what sustainability is, by looking into the different pillars it is made up of: Sustainability and Environmental Development’, ‘Sustainability and Social Development’, Sustainability and Cultural Development’ and ‘Sustainability and Economic Development’. After each LTT activity we focus on evaluation and dissemination. What we hope to achieve is awareness of what sustainability is and what you as an individual can do to contribute to making your local community more sustainable.Sustainability is not just something you should read about – you should be able to live it.

LA ALBERICIA,AGRUPAMENTO DE ESCOLAS DA MAIA,OGEC Nantes Erdre,Adam-Josef-Cüppers-Berufskolleg,Muhoksen lukioFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2020-1-DE03-KA229-077402Funder Contribution: 146,040 EURThe 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 and with the EU being a frontrunner, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call-to-action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests. We, as members of the European Union, think that we have the obligation to achieve these goals and we think that this will also lead us to a stronger European Union. Students at school should not only learn about the implications of these goals, they should start taking action in order to make a change for everybody. By meeting their European friends during the mobilities or by working together on the ETwinning platform or by using other means of communication and ICT, they develop skills in order to become active and critical thinking citizens themselves. The project idea is to work together with 5 partners from Finland- Muhoksen lukio France -Ensemble ST Félix Lasalle, Germany- Adam-Josef-Cüppers-Berufskolleg Ratingen, Portugal- Agrupamento de Escolas de Montemor-o-Novo and Spain-I.E.S. LA ALBERICIA. The students involved are 15-19 years old. Every partner is responsible for one part of the five Ps which are the five main ideas of the Agenda 2030: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership. We think that the project already includes the aspects of peace and partnership because we will live the partnership which hopefully creates more peace by achieving the aims of the 17 SDGs. Therefore we decided to divide the planet part following the SDGs into Life on land, Life under water and Life with water. During the 24 months, the teams will work on all 17 SDGs. During the LTT activities, the SDGs that were worked on at home or online together, will be combined with visiting e.g. sustainable companies and taking action (like e.g. writing letters). Between the LTT activities, there will be other activities, mostly connected to UN or EU awareness days. During the 24 months, there are five LTT activities. Every partner organizes one mobility at their school/town for one week. The other partners visit them with a team of 4 students and two teachers. Every country has a group of teachers who are responsible for the project and a team of students who are involved. We try to involve as many students as possible, especially disadvantaged kids. During the mobility, the students stay at hostfamilies. During the week, there will be activities related to the topic like workshops or cleanups but also cultural events. The mobilities will mostly have the same arrangement which of course are different in all countries, since the participating schools and towns differ a lot. All this will help us to see that sustainability is something we all have to deal with, despite all our differences in our way of living or our culture. On the first day, the teams arrive and there is a first meeting of the teachers in the evening while the students stay in their host families. On the second day there is an introduction on the activities. The teams visit, if possible, the mayor of the town and they will get a first impression on the surroundings and the schools by visiting classes and doing a tour around town. On the third day the students get a closer insight to the topic by doing e.g. workshops or visiting e.g. museums. On the fourth day the students work on the project and create something together. On the fifth day there is a culture day with visits of cultural sight or experience the local culture. On the sixth day there is a sightseeing day and on the seventh day the students stay in their host families in order to get to know more about their culture. In the evening the group meets for a farewell dinner or party and on the last day everybody returns to their home countries. All LTT activities have pre- and after-activities to prepare and follow up the mobility. The final result of the work done is an exhibition which will be set up during the last meeting in Germany and which all participants can download from the Twinspace and set up at their home schools as well.
