There is therefore a strong need for knowledge and expertise that will enable the EU and its Member States to effectively address the contemporary terrorist threat. The EU-GLOCTER (EUropean GLOCal Counter-TERrorism) Doctoral Network will produce the expertise that the EU and its Member States require to effectively address this threat. The research programme is highly innovative in its emphasis on analysing EU counter-terrorism through the lenses of ‘glocalism’ at different levels, ranging from the local through the EU to the global level, and in the crossing of the public-private sector boundaries. EU-GLOCTER brings several beneficiaries with an excellent research track-record in counter-terrorism together with a range of Associated Partners from across the world in order to deliver a world-class PhD programme. The EU-GLOCTER project will train 11 doctoral candidates (DCs) using cutting-edge resources at leading research facilities, universities and think thanks throughout the EU and globally in the most important centres of power. The research programme involves world-leading social scientists (from a range of disciplines including political science, criminology, sociology, policing, and law) in combination with innovative think thanks and industry partners. The two main objectives of EU-GLOCTER are: (1) to provide world-class training to DCs in EU ‘glocal’ counter-terrorism - thinking globally, responding locally; and (2) to generate scientific excellence and technological innovation in the area of counter-terrorism.

At its core lies the recognition that emotions play a fundamental role in political participation and communication. Understanding and responding to citizens' emotional (re)actions - as set up by CIDAPE's inquiry - are essential to achieving coordinated, democratic action. With a focus on the perceived and articulated emotions around climate and inequality, CIDAPE proposes a comprehensive, multi-methods approach and multidisciplinary analysis of the force of political emotions in European politics of climate change. The project's WPs delve into emotions in the political sphere, media, everyday life, global-local entanglements, social movements, and citizen engagement showing how emotions shape people's rational argumentation, engagement, and ultimately, who and what they care about. CIDAPE seeks to uncover the core mechanisms and processes at the heart of political action - at the policy, polity, and politics levels - and proposes participatory tools, policy instruments, and methodological guides to address these challenges. The project emphasizes that the climate crisis provides a unique opportunity to unite citizens across the political spectrum and that the success of coordinated democratic action will require high levels of public trust, strong institutions, and policies that resonate with citizens' political emotions. the Consortium assembles experienced researchers from political science, sociology, linguistics, communication science, and international relations, and distinguished representatives from civil society across nine European countries. It has a strong dissemination strategy, aiming at diverse citizen groups at local, national, and supranational levels of democratic engagement.
more_vert assignment_turned_in ProjectPartners:MUP, DIT, EDUCA INTERNATIONAL, o.p.s., University of Edinburgh, UPV/EHU +1 partnersMUP,DIT,EDUCA INTERNATIONAL, o.p.s.,University of Edinburgh,UPV/EHU,University of Pavol Jozef ŠafárikFunder: European Commission Project Code: 2019-1-CZ01-KA203-061393Funder Contribution: 116,519 EURThe aim of the project is to increase the quality and benefits of internships by creating closer cooperation between companies and universities in the implementation of internships. The reason of the project proposal is ensuring the quality and relevance of traineeships by developing of closer cooperation companies and universities when Erasmus traineeships are realized. The project proposal aims at enhancing cooperation between universities and companies through innovative benefits in which students will have the chance to develop their skills and competences for their future careers. Partner organizations will work with companies and students to develop methods together with companies and other relevant entities.Traineeships can become more attractive for university students if a clear assessment of their traineeships is used and the results are recognized as a regular part of study. Also if their assessment evaluates their abilities and skills so that they can use it in their future application for job and they have already practical experience and are trained and prepared for employment. The objective of this project is to set up a system for assessment of quality of traineeships. In order to make the assessment even more reliable and useful for companies and for students, we are planning to submit an Erasmus KA2 project AQET that aims to analyze according to which criteria the outcomes of the traineeships are most useful for companies (future employers) and for students (future employees). The project proposal will enhance the quality and relevance of traineeships by developing of assessment and recognition of Erasmus Traineeships for participating institutions and to disseminate it to the other universities, too.We believe that the EU needs to put more responsibility on companies who hire interns through the Erasmus+ program. The companies are benefiting from Erasmus+ as they are able to have highly educated interns subsidized by EU funding. Increasing the companies’ obligations on reporting or evaluation will inadvertently increase the dialogue between the companies and the universities. This enhanced communication could also assist the European Commission in achieving its goal of having industry, research and education all working together.Dissemination activities will be divided to several directions. Very important is dissemination within each partner institution (internal dissemination). It is important to disseminate information inside the university and inform all faculties and departments, that this kind of project is realized. There will be information sent to all teaching and administrative staff responsible for traineeships. The dissemination activities within own institution since the beginning is very important for the project results and final success. There will be also dissemination activities oriented out of institutions (external dissemination). The first external dissemination information will be presented on web which will be used for project progress presentation and will be opened the whole public. This “ex ante” dissemination activities will promote the project and its goals.

Political trust drives citizens’ interest and engagement in politics, increases voting turnout and makes law-abiding behavior more common. Political trust is frequently equated to diffuse regime support and thus linked to the effective functioning and stability of the political system. The proposed research effort will monitor the structural (long-term) drivers of political trust but also emphasize the strategies which can be employed by diverse actors and agencies to strengthen accurate and informed judgments of agency trustworthiness. The objective of this ambitious project is twofold. First, we aim to design and implement a complex research effort to collect comprehensive evidence on the judgments of trustworthiness in a range of European states. Second, the project will develop a comprehensive and transparent toolbox of short-term and long-term policy interventions including recommendations, and methodologies for enhancing trust in political institutions, boosting transparency, and inclusiveness of representative systems in Europe. While there is a growing concern about the crisis of democracy and democratic backsliding, this research effort will provide an innovative theoretical perspective on the sources of regime support and strategies for trust building in the public domain. The project looks at the different drivers of 'positive high trust in democracy' and 'negative high trust in autocracy'. The project will facilitate development of a new paradigm of political trust and trust-building and will inspire emergence of new insights on the multi-facet origins of political trust and multi-factor nature of trustworthiness. The project has partners in Austria, Czechia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Ukraine.
