The International Maritime Organization (IMO) requires that the automatic identification system (AIS) is installed and in service on board of all vessels with gross tonnage exceeding 300 tons and all passenger ships regardless of size. A research group of the CNR Institute of Information Science and Technology (ISTI) has built an integrated system for the acquisition and integration of AIS signals. The AIS signals is directly acquired through the installation of an antenna receiving the signals on the VHF band, and interpreted through a specific software to obtain the data. Indirectly we obtain data from systems aggregators on the web, with whom agreements have been signed, and also from the General Command of the Coast Guard with whom there is an active collaboration. All acquired data are processed, cross-correlated and rendered visually through an interactive graphical interface.

Historic centres, suffering of degradations, social conflicts and poor liveability, need concurred regeneration interventions able to improve their environmental conditions as well as their accessibility: these actions have to overcome tangible and intangible barriers. The H2020 ROCK research project (Regeneration and Optimisation of Cultural heritage in creative and Knowledge cities), coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna in close collaboration with the University of Bologna, aims to demonstrate how European historical centres can become permanent laboratories for testing new models of urban regeneration. Accessibility is one of the four macro-objectives pursued by the demo activities carried out in the Bologna case study: the paper describes the methodological approach and the results obtained.

BOERI; D. LONGO; V. GIANFRATE; B. TURILLAZZI; R. ROVERSI; M. MASSARI;Cultural Heritage (CH) is the result of continuously new mutating actions: physical aspect, social value and use of places are built and modified due to the presence and role of institutions, companies, associations and citizens.
